Serena scoffed lightly. "You boast about a friendship of over a decade, yet you didn't even know your 'good friend' was in the hospital for more than a week? And you have the nerve... to use your so-called friendship to blackmail her?"
Brandon's face flushed, but he was also frantic. "Brianna, were you really in the hospital?"
So... that was why Brianna was angry?
Because she was mad he hadn't contacted her for days.
Mad that he'd left her alone in the hospital.
No wonder she was so cold and dismissive when he saw her this time!
As long as she was still willing to be angry, it meant she still cared about him.
Now that he knew the reason, it would be easy to win her back!
Brandon scrambled up from the ground and walked toward Brianna. "Brianna, I honestly didn't know you were in the hospital! And you, really, if you were hospitalized, why didn't you tell me? If you had told me, I would have dropped everything to come see you and take care of you."
His face was full of concern as he reached for her. "Did your heart condition act up again? If you weren't feeling well, why did you have to come to a place like this? And get into trouble with Mr. Cole and the others? What if it triggered another attack?"
He rattled on and on, but his words were still laced with blame for Brianna.
Brianna was so angry she almost laughed. "I didn't tell you? I did! But you were busy drinking with your buddies, with your arm around Lauren!"
Brandon's face paled slightly.
He had no memory of her saying anything like that. After all, he had never paid much attention to what Brianna said or did.
Even if he ignored her, she would always come crawling back on her own.
But... he never thought that this one oversight would have such serious consequences.
He spoke urgently, "Brianna, I know I was wrong. From now on... I promise I'll always put you first..."
His words were cut off again by Serena. "Do you know why Brianna was hospitalized?"
She hadn't initially intended to waste her breath on Brandon.
