Seeing Nicholas about to leave the room, Nathan clutched the fifteen-million-dollar, priceless bottle of Heartward Pills and carefully hurried after him. "Nicholas, where are you going?"
Nicholas nonchalantly adjusted his cuffs, his exquisitely perfect profile devastatingly handsome.
He smiled, a devilish glint in his eyes. "To attend a family dinner. And while I'm at it... discuss the implementation details of a certain childhood engagement."
Nathan was completely bewildered.
What?
A childhood engagement?
Nicholas? A childhood engagement? Had Nicholas lost his mind, or was he hallucinating?
***
Just as Nicholas stepped out of the VIP floor elevator, a woman in a sky-blue luxury suit rushed toward him.
"Nicholas…"
The woman's face was tear-streaked and pitiful, her eyes red-rimmed and her long lashes dotted with crystalline tears.
When she saw Nicholas, her voice was a deliberately soft, choked sob. "I'm so sorry, Nicholas, it's all my fault... It's all my fault! I was just so worried about Brianna. I heard she was in a car accident, and I just wanted to see her... But I didn't expect, I didn't expect her to get so agitated. I really didn't mean for it to happen…"
She sniffled, tears rolling down her cheeks. "I was so scared... If anything happened to Brianna, I would never be able to forgive myself."
As she spoke, she tried to lean into Nicholas's arms.
Nicholas, his path blocked, lazily lifted his narrow, captivating eyes.
Though they were the same alluring eyes, his fleeting glance was incredibly cold.
The woman froze on the spot, not daring to take another step.
Her outstretched hand hung awkwardly in mid-air, as awkward as the tears rolling down her face.
