Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 603

Chapter 603: You Need a Reservation

Selina arched a brow, her tone cool. "Oh? I thought the two of you were talking such a big game, like you could give me anything I wanted. Turns out it was just empty words."

She rose slightly from her seat. "Honestly, it’s not like I’m desperate for this meal. You both blew up my phone, begged me to come. I show up, you say I can order whatever I want. I did—and now you claim my request is too much, too unreasonable. Tell me, was this dinner something I insisted on having?"

"You shameless little—!"

June snapped, her face twisted with fury. "Opening your mouth and asking for osmanthus fish, who do you think you are? You just want to embarrass me! You knew perfectly well that dish has to be pre-ordered, and yet you—"

Her words cut off when Selina’s sharp gaze slid toward the manager.

The manager instantly understood. Stepping forward, he interrupted June’s outburst and bowed respectfully to Selina.

"Miss, you’d like the osmanthus fish? Please wait a moment. I’ll have the kitchen prepare it right away."

...

The entire room went silent.

June’s eyes went wide, sure she had misheard.

The manager sided with Selina? But the osmanthus fish required a reservation—exclusive, limited, not just anyone could order it! How could Selina say the word and suddenly it appeared for her?

Soon enough, the manager himself placed the fragrant dish in front of Selina.

The rich aroma filled the air. June’s throat tightened with envy. It wasn’t the fish itself she craved—it was what it symbolized. Status. Prestige. She would have loved to snap a photo for social media, proof of her standing.

Why did Selina get it? Why not her?

Then it struck her. June’s eyes lit up. Of course—that must mean osmanthus fish no longer required pre-orders!

Smug now, she raised her chin. "Bring me one as well."

But the manager only smiled politely and shook his head. "I’m sorry. Osmanthus fish must be reserved in advance."

Hannah’s expression darkened.

June’s face went blotchy, rage flaring as she pointed at Selina. "Then why does she have it?! What’s that supposed to mean—picking favorites? I’ll have you know I’m from the Hill Family—"

"Ma’am."

The manager cut her off coldly. "There is only one exception where the dish does not require a reservation. Would you like to know what that is?"

June opened her mouth to lash out, but Hannah yanked her arm hard, forcing a brittle smile at the manager. "June, enough! Don’t cause a scene. Apologies, sir—we won’t be needing the osmanthus fish after all."

The manager gave a short nod and walked away.

June’s chest heaved with swallowed curses, but Hannah’s sharp, warning glare silenced her.

A chill settled in Hannah’s gut. She had a sinking feeling that if the manager spoke further, something would be revealed she couldn’t afford to hear.

Still, June was too blind with anger to think. As soon as the manager left, she turned on Selina again, her voice shrill.

"It was you, wasn’t it?! You’re flaunting Mr. Reid and Jeff’s power, threatening the manager to take your side! That has to be it—it has to!"

Hannah’s teeth clenched. The thought had crossed her mind as well. She’d heard rumors that CPJ’s true owner had once extended favors to Logan. If that were the case, the manager’s deference to Selina was simply on Logan’s account.

And if so...

Hannah’s gaze turned poisonous. Selina and Victoria really were alike—both knew how to ensnare men.

Masking her venom with a soft frown, Hannah sighed. "Selina, using Mr. Reid’s name out here... isn’t that inappropriate? Won’t that leave him owing CPJ a favor?"

Selina’s eyes flicked up, cold and disdainful. "And what’s that got to do with you?"

"How is it not related?!" June lost all reason, emboldened by rage. She lunged forward, hand raised to slap Selina.
