"Since you’re homeless, you might as well come home with me." Selina motioned for Logan to take the passenger seat. "I’m driving. I want to take you somewhere."
Logan raised an eyebrow.
Once they were on the road, he noticed they weren’t heading toward any residential area—they were driving out of the city.
The cityscape began to fade behind them, tall buildings retreating into the distance. The sky darkened as the sun dipped through the clouds, casting everything in a warm orange glow. In the distance, the outline of the hills began to show. Logan realized they were already beyond the City A limits.
A smile played at the corners of his lips. "Where is Mrs. Reid taking me?"
Selina put on a mock-stern face. "That’s for me to know. You got in my car without asking questions—now you’re mine. Even if I sold you off, there’s nothing you could do about it."
Logan let out a low laugh. As he traced the route in his mind, something clicked. "BW Town?"
Selina’s grip on the steering wheel faltered for a second. "..."
"So I’m right."
He remembered—they had "accidentally" run into each other in BW Town shortly after getting married.
Selina swallowed and quickly changed the subject. "I wonder how Uncle Ford’s doing. Haven’t checked in on him in a while—hope he’s healthy."
Uncle Ford was the caretaker of their small villa in BW Town. Logan had met him before.
Back then... he never imagined this little liar would become the most irreplaceable, most important person in his life.
BW Town was about two hours from City A. By the time they arrived, night had completely fallen.
Compared to other nearby towns, BW was still underdeveloped. It lacked the buzz of the city and didn’t have the polish of newly-built communities.
Just before 7 p.m., the smell of dinner wafted from nearly every house. A few modest restaurants dotted the roadside.
Logan rolled down the window. "Smells amazing."
Selina raised a brow. "That’s nothing. Tomorrow, I’ll take you to this old local spot—the food is incredible."
Logan smiled. "Mrs. Reid knows this place well."
"Of course. I lived here for two years, you know."
They drove slower through the narrow town streets, and after about twenty more minutes, they finally reached the villa.
Uncle Ford was already waiting out front. When he saw the car pull up, he immediately stepped forward. "Miss Selina!"
Then he looked at the man beside her. Ford had heard that Selina’s husband—Logan, the head of Reid Group—would be visiting, and he was just about to greet him when he saw the man’s face. His throat tightened.
"Y-You..."
Logan nodded warmly. "Good to see you again, Mr. Ford."
Uncle Ford had been retired for a few years now, keeping watch over the BW villa. He wasn’t up to date with everything happening in City A.
He knew Miss Selina’s husband was named Logan and ran the Reid Group—but he had no idea what the man actually looked like.
But this man...
Ford looked from Selina to Logan, then back again.
He struggled for a while before finally blurting out, "...Selina, come with me for a second."
Selina: "?"
She had no idea what was going on, but followed him. "What is it, Uncle Ford?"
"That man... do you realize... back then, he—he investigated you," Ford whispered. "He suspected you were Luna. I remember his face! And when he figured it out, he even smirked!"
Selina: "...?"
Wait, didn’t Logan already know she was the hacker Luna?
She’d even used that identity to contact him when Jacob had her locked up...
Uncle Ford didn’t notice Selina’s confusion. He lowered his voice, saying, "Selina, your husband is the head of Reid Group, and he knows you hacked their system... he’s not using that to threaten you, is he? Has he done anything to you?"
