Amelia shot to her feet, eyes blazing, staring at the giant screen.
"What’s going on!"
Everyone immediately turned their heads, faces frozen in shock, exchanging confused glances—
Was it broken? Was the voting machine malfunctioning?
Each shareholder had a voting device in front of them — press Yes or No, and the vote would be cast.
In Amelia’s mind, and in everyone else’s, the outcome was certain: they should all be voting to remove Logan from his position.
But now...
Unanimous approval.
Unanimous approval?!
Every single board member and shareholder voted for Logan to remain chairman? What kind of joke was this?
The media outside was in a frenzy — there was no way Reid Group had no dissent inside. How could every single vote be "Yes"?!
Amelia whipped her head toward the middle-aged board member who was presiding.
"Check it! The voting machine must be broken—or someone tampered with it!"
The man, Board Member Cole, had also voted "Yes," but Amelia was certain Logan had meddled somehow. After all, she had paid a fortune to buy Cole off!
Sure enough, Director Cole frowned, nodded slightly toward Logan, and said, "Sir, there may be a malfunction with the voting system. We’ll need to run a check."
Logan’s tone was casual, almost lazy. "Go ahead."
Amelia let out a breath. So it was just a technical glitch. Otherwise, even Cole wouldn’t be wearing that expression.
Whispers rippled through the crowd. Reporters murmured to one another, "What’s happening?"
"How could a voting machine break down during such an important meeting?"
The reporters Amelia had bribed quickly steered the narrative.
"Mrs. Perry already said it — someone tampered with the system. Cole is checking now."
"But who would risk tampering like that? Aren’t they afraid of getting caught?"
"Who else? Who’s the one person who doesn’t want to be ousted?"
One reporter darted his eyes around and said slyly, "This is Logan’s company. If anyone could mess with the system, it’s him. But this time, he made it too obvious!"
The crowd traded glances but stayed quiet.
Meanwhile, at the center of the storm, Logan sat perfectly calm — even sipping his tea leisurely.
Amelia ground her teeth, her voice dripping with venom.
"That’s what happens when you don’t grow up in the Reid Family — you pick up all sorts of filthy tricks!"
Owen, smug and certain Logan’s actions were just the death throes of a doomed man, chimed in sweetly, "Mom, don’t get angry."
Then he turned to Logan, arrogance glinting in his eyes.
"Big brother, why don’t you just admit it? Don’t drag this out and make things uglier than they have to be. If Director Cole actually uncovers something, it’ll ruin your reputation."
"If you admit your mistake now, Mom and I can smooth things over for you. Even if you lose Reid Group, you can still find a decent job somewhere. But if Cole proves you lied and manipulated the vote, who’s going to hire a man like that — a man who only knows how to cheat and deceive?"
On the surface, his words sounded noble — as if he were looking out for Logan’s best interests.
Logan only spared him a cold glance. "Then we’ll wait for Director Cole to return."
His tone stayed flat, unhurried — as if the storm of accusations had nothing to do with him.
As if the combined pressure of the Reid Family and Perry Family was nothing more than a minor inconvenience, barely worth his attention.
That infuriating indifference made Owen’s blood boil. He felt like a performing monkey — a ridiculous clown dancing in front of Logan.
The realization lit his anger like a match.
Owen sneered. "I hope you can stay this calm when the truth comes out!"
Cole’s brows were furrowed, his expression oddly conflicted. He hesitated for three full seconds before finally nodding.
