The impostor trembled with nerves, unable to squeeze out a single word.
Logan stood up calmly. "Luke, come upstairs with me. Give me the quarterly report on Reid Group."
The impostor quickly said, "I’ll let you two handle business, then."
Logan nodded.
Luke looked from one to the other, then followed Logan, full of curiosity. "Okay, seriously—what’s going on? Selina’s got a new face, I didn’t even recognize her. And this fake one? Damn—she’s got guts."
Logan lowered his gaze. "Jacob’s behind it."
"Knew it," Luke muttered. "That guy’s shady as hell. So when’s Selina going to get her face back?"
He kept mumbling. "This impostor—she looks down on Selina but keeps flaunting her identity. Is she delusional or something?"
"How do you know she looks down on Selina?" Logan cut in suddenly.
Luke blinked. "Isn’t it obvious? She totally does. But the thing is—her entire life now is stolen from Selina. Why would she look down on her? If she does, then why steal from her in the first place?"
"This girl makes no sense."
Logan narrowed his eyes, lost in thought.
Just like Luke said: if she thinks so little of Selina, why steal her life?
To envy Selina, to covet her life—and still think herself superior...
Luke clicked his tongue. "Honestly, weirdos like that are everywhere. Look at Owen. He thinks you’re beneath him but still tried to steal everything from you."
Logan’s head snapped up.
Owen—once just a foster son—was forcefully given the title of rightful heir by Amelia. But everyone knew his status was stolen.
Same with Amelia and Anna. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
And the Hill Family.
Hannah’s perfect heiress life? Also stolen—from her cousin.
Could this impostor be connected to Selina in the same way?
...
Downstairs, Jacob saw Selina walking toward him and smiled. "What were you and Logan talking about? Looked like a pretty happy chat."
Selina shot him a cold look. "Yeah. It’s been years. Of course we had things to talk about."
Jacob chuckled. "Did you discuss how you’ll reclaim your identity?"
Selina’s eyes instantly darkened.
Jacob shrugged. "Not that it matters. Even if you had a plan, it’s useless. With that face of yours? You’re hardly convincing."
Selina nodded. "You’re right. That’s why I’m back, aren’t I?"
"But knowing you, you’re not just going to follow me around quietly. You’re already thinking..."
Jacob paused, then smiled faintly. "Thinking about how to make the fake one trip herself up, right?"
Selina narrowed her eyes.
Jacob kept his easy smile. "Take your time. No rush. And hey—tomorrow might bring a surprise. Get some good rest tonight."
Meanwhile, Old Mr. Carter, as the host, gave a short speech. Afterward, guests retired to their rooms.
Jacob hadn’t restricted Selina’s freedom. Her room was nice enough—but she knew everything, including her phone, was being watched.
She kept thinking about Jacob’s so-called "surprise."
Something about "rest well tonight," "don’t get too worked up tomorrow morning"...
Would Jacob actually arrange a surprise?
Definitely not.
It had to be a shock.
And if he planned to shock her—there was only one person he could use.
Suddenly, Selina’s head snapped up, her face draining of color.
Logan!
