Without even thinking, Selina darted under the covers.
"No!"
Logan: "..."
He let out a low chuckle.
"So in your eyes, Iām just some kind of animal?"
Selinaās eyes brimmed with tears. How thick-skinned was he to ask that so casually? Did he seriously not know he acted like a beast?
Logan spoke slowly.
"I want you to be my executive assistant."
Selina blinked, curious when he shifted to business.
"Hmm?"
"Youāll keep managing the design department," he said with a smile in his eyes. "But Mrs. Reid, youāll need to move your office upstairs."
"It wonāt be too busy, but I need you."
Selina understood instantly.
Logan had plenty of secretaries and assistants. He didnāt need peopleāhe needed her close by.
"Thereās someone planted on my team." Loganās eyes went cold.
Selinaās face turned serious. "Who?"
"I donāt know."
Selina froze. He didnāt know?
Logan not knowing was shocking. His assistants and secretaries had all been with him for at least five yearsāsome even ten. If there was a traitor among them...
Loganās gaze narrowed.
The Country Y trip hadnāt gone well.
Their offer had leaked in advance. Jack blamed the slip on the secretarial team, and they admitted fault. But Logan wasnāt convinced.
His gut told him someone had been planted close to him.
He had no idea who it was, or which faction they worked for.
For the first time since taking over Reid Group, Logan was on the back foot.
Selina asked, intrigued, "But how do you know me coming in will expose them?"
Loganās mouth curved in a small smile.
"Because youāll make them nervous."
Once they got nervous, theyād slip up. Theyād show their hand.
Why had she suddenly been reassigned to the chairmanās office?
Did Logan already suspect something and want her there to keep watch?
Selina got it. "Okay. Iāll go with you this afternoon."
"Mrs. Reid." Logan suddenly called after her, bringing up something unrelated.
"After I got Scottās shares, I now hold 17% of CY Club. If you want them, Iāll give them to you."
Selina paused.
Logan lowered his gaze and gently patted her hair.
"Your secrets are yours to keep. But if you want it, itās yours."
Selinaās lips pressed tight for a moment, then relaxed.
"Itās not really some big secret. The previous owner of CY Club was my grandfather... the man who adopted me. Later he said he was giving it back to its āoriginal owner,ā so I stopped going there."
Loganās eyes narrowed sharply.
"Previous owner? Original owner?"
"I donāt know who the original owner was. But that club..."
Selina looked puzzled.
"Riley said you gave it to Hunter?"
Loganās expression turned grim.
āYes. That was the rumor.
Everyone thought Logan had bought CY Club, then gifted it to Hunter when Hunter was at rock bottom, giving him the capital and confidence to rebuild.
But only Logan and Hunter knew the truth.
"If I ever find out who made him change his mind and come back early, Iāll wring their neck just to vent my rage!"
Selina: "..."
Jaxon glanced at Selina, then at his brother. He was pretty sure Jack was a lost cause.
Selina cleared her throat.
"Uh... well, get some rest these next few days."
Jack slumped, exhausted.
"Yeah, Iām not going in today. OhāMaāam, I heard youāre going to be his assistant? Tsk. My brother and I arenāt going in either. I donāt want those people making things hard for you."
Selina blinked innocently.
"Iām Mrs. Reid. Whoās going to make things hard for me?"
Jack grimaced.
"Those secretaries and assistants might not have been with him as long as me, but itās still been eight or ten years. They donāt care about your title when theyāre working. Theyāllā"
He frowned.
"Just... be careful. Donāt let them bully you."
Jaxon let out a tiny sigh of relief when he heard Jack change the subject.
Seriously, what an idiot. Everyone else might not know why the boss rushed home early, but as Loganās personal assistant, Jack really had no clue?
Who else would it be forāRiley? Please.
Selina nodded. "Itās fine. They wonāt be able to push me around."
Jack shook his head fiercely. "Donāt be so sure!" He suddenly remembered something and grit his teeth, face contorting.
"Watch out for that Stone guy in the assistant team. Heās a sneaky bastard! In Country Y this time..."
He trailed off, realizing he didnāt have solid proof yet. But he couldnāt hold it in. In the end, he just decided to rant about Logan.
"Maāam, you donāt even know! These past five days Iāve been worked like a dog. I mean, is the boss even human? Is he?!"
Selinaās gaze drifted past him and landed on a tall figure. "...Uh, well..."
It was obvious poor overworked Jack was really on a roll, venting all his rage about his heartless boss.
Butāseriouslyāwhen youāre trash-talking your boss like that, maybe check if heās standing right there listening...
