Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 287

Chapter 287: Full of Herself

A designer wearing knockoffs? That’s a disgrace to the industry—completely unacceptable.

Selina blinked.

Wait a second—Logan sent her this dress. Since when did it become one of Rowan’s designs?

But then again, Logan and Rowan were friends, so she didn’t think too much of it.

And if Logan gave it to her, there was no way it was a knockoff.

Selina responded casually, "A knockoff? You sure about that, Miss Brooks? This dress is Rowan’s work. If you’re wrong, you’ll be blacklisted from the entire fashion industry."

Accusing a designer of plagiarism is serious—no one would work with her again. And the designer in question wasn’t just anyone. It was Rowan.

Anyone else might’ve backed down after that warning.

But Zara? She was Angelica’s lackey. Angelica had always claimed Rowan was too aloof to ever do custom pieces for celebrities or socialites.

Not a single person at the event was wearing Rowan... so why would Selina be the exception?

That thought made Zara double down, her tone arrogant and dismissive.

"Oh please, who are you trying to scare? Like you could actually ruin my fashion connections."

"Selina, maybe learn a thing or two from Angelica. She started prepping for this event three months ago, hired a top design house, and had her whole look custom-made. That’s how you show respect for the event."

"Not like you, showing up in a cheap knockoff and pretending it’s Rowan’s. Don’t embarrass yourself."

Cameras turned toward Selina. In Zara’s livestream, the chat was blowing up with mockery.

[That’s definitely fake. That light gray gown was designed by Rowan three years ago—only 15 were made worldwide. 14 went to confirmed buyers, and the last one’s in Rowan’s private collection.]

[Selina doesn’t know any of those 14 people. So unless Rowan handed her his personal piece, that dress is a fake. And come on—Rowan? He’s fashion royalty. Why would he give that to Selina?]

[Pretty sure that necklace’s a fake too. It’s a knockoff of another Rowan piece. She must really have a thing for fakes.]

[Disrespecting Rowan’s designs like this is unforgivable.]

[If we’re talking fashion, Angelica’s the real deal—taste, connections, and most importantly, no fakes.]

[Exactly. Angelica’s look today was an exclusive from DL. Totally outshined Selina. Plus, Angelica won last year’s fashion design competition.]

Zara saw the flood of supportive comments and grinned wide.

"See? Of all things, you had to wear a knockoff. Rowan has a massive fanbase—you’re about to get ripped to shreds. You’re done for."

Selina caught a particular comment in the chat:

"15 pieces worldwide. 14 confirmed buyers. 1 is Rowan’s private collection."

Something clicked.

Wait... if Logan isn’t one of the 14, could this be the one from Rowan’s private stash?

Just how close are Logan and Rowan, that he’d give him something like that?

Zara kept up her smug act. "Selina, I’m doing you a favor. Once this event starts, there’ll be major fashion icons in attendance. If they find out you’re wearing a knockoff... well, you know how that ends."

"So take my advice—slip out the back now while you still can. Don’t make Angelica clean up your mess."

Selina smirked, eyes cool. "So confident I’m wearing a knockoff... Did Angelica tell you that? Or did she just inflate your ego?"

Zara scoffed. "Of course it was Angelica!"

She even held up her phone screen for everyone to see—letting the whole livestream audience witness it too.

The Twitter DMs clearly showed the full conversation between them.

"Zara, you should check Twitter..." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Zara, annoyed, almost didn’t pick up. But it was her agent calling—she didn’t want to miss anything important.

"Hello—?"

Her agent exploded: "Zara, are you out of your mind? You’re saying this crap live on camera?! Do you even know what people on Twitter are saying about you right now? You’re already trending for all the wrong reasons. Apologize to Selina right now and fix this, or you can consider your contract terminated! I’m done trying to clean up your mess!"

Zara was stunned into silence.

She couldn’t even process what just happened.

"Why should I apologize? I was doing it for the fashion industry’s sake! Selina’s wearing a fake—"

"Shut up! Go check Twitter yourself!"

Click. The agent hung up on her in fury.

Zara’s expression darkened. "Selina, did you threaten my agent? You bitch, I knew you—"

"Miss Brooks," Selina said calmly, "your agent wants you to check Twitter."

She tucked her hair behind her ear, smiling as she opened Twitter and held the phone up in front of Zara.

"Go on. Take a good look."

Everyone nearby went quiet. Heads down. No one dared breathe.

Zara glanced at the screen—and went pale. Her knees almost gave out.

Rowan’s post had just hit the trending list.

A photo of Selina standing by a window, wearing that same gray gown. The soft light made the dress look like early morning mist. Diamonds around her wrist and neck sparkled like teardrops from a sea siren.

@Rowan: My favorite design in recent years. Someone said it’s a knockoff?
