Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 271

Chapter 271: It’s All Logan’s Fault

Downstairs.

Logan looked at the carefully written message in his inbox and couldn’t help but smile.

His little wife really was too sweet—she even remembered to thank Rowan.

Too bad Rowan wasn’t exactly the nicest guy.

Logan’s fingers danced across the keyboard as he sent another message:

[How’s the wedding dress coming along? Are you designing it yourself, or should I?]

Upstairs.

Selina stared blankly at the message.

Rowan was asking to design her wedding dress too? First the rings, now the dress?

What kind of miracle was she living?

But he’d already done so much... She didn’t want to push it.

[Rowan, you really don’t need to go to all that trouble...]

Rowan replied almost instantly:

[You called me your teacher, so of course I want to help. I haven’t done any design work in a while—it’d be a personal wish fulfilled.]

Selina’s fingers trembled as she typed back, dazed and overwhelmed:

[Alright... then thank you, teacher. I’ll leave it to you.]

Thank you, huh?

Logan’s eyes narrowed with amusement.

He typed again:

[No need to be so formal. We’re peers—you don’t have to call me ’teacher.’ I didn’t teach you much anyway. If you’re okay with it, you can call me ’senior.’]

Selina’s brain short-circuited. Peers? Wasn’t Rowan in his forties? She was only in her twenties! How were they peers?

Wait a second... sudden realization.

So that was it. Rowan must be sensitive about his age. He didn’t want to be seen as old, hence no "teacher" title. He wanted to come off young—like a man in his twenties.

Fine. She could play along. Everyone had their quirks.

[Got it, Senior Rowan.]

Logan was very pleased.

He casually kept typing.

A moment later, Selina received another message—and froze.

[So, when’s the wedding? Spring sounds nice. Have you picked a venue yet?]

Selina: "..."

Wait. Wait a minute. Wasn’t that moving a little too fast?

She was just trying to say thank you—how did this turn into wedding planning?

She cautiously replied:

[Rowan, I think you misunderstood. I don’t have any plans for a wedding just yet.]

Logan’s face darkened.

[I see. After all that talk of wedding rings and dresses, and now there’s no wedding?]

Selina: "???"

Was it just her, or did that message sound... passive-aggressive?

Before she could reply, she heard the butler call her downstairs for a late-night snack.

She shut her laptop and switched to her phone to keep emailing Rowan.

Downstairs, Logan clicked his tongue. Why’d she stop replying?

Suddenly, on impulse, he typed out:

[What do you think of your husband?]

Selina nearly tripped and fell down the stairs.

What kind of middle-aged man was this? Why was he so nosy?

Rowan was supposed to be all mysterious and aloof—since when did he gossip about her love life?

She was about to send back a neutral "He’s fine," when she heard Jack reporting to Logan downstairs:

"Sir, about the deal with Mr. Nelson—he’s offering to give up 2% of the profits in exchange for you forgiving Miss Nelson’s behavior. Should we accept?"

Logan put his phone down and said lazily, "Why wouldn’t I take free benefits? Of course we accept."

After all, he never gave Riley the time of day.

Selina’s blood pressure spiked.

Riley again?! That woman just wouldn’t quit. Nelson Family was willing to lose 2% just to smooth things over for her? No wonder she had the nerve to go toe-to-toe with Selina.

Logan’s expression darkened with every word he read.

[Then when I got home, I wanted to tell him—but I heard him on the phone with her brother. And I thought...]

Selina hesitated.

Wait a second.

Why was she pouring her heart out to someone who was basically a stranger?

She forced herself to pause, realizing something wasn’t right.

But Rowan—or rather, Logan—didn’t give her that chance.

Under the calm yet cold identity of Rowan, he replied:

[And then? What were you thinking?]

Selina blinked. She didn’t even notice the butler placing a steak in front of her.

[I guess... I really am the outsider. Logan has so many friends—people I don’t even know. If they don’t accept me, maybe that’s normal.]

She felt oddly better after typing that.

Maybe she had just been feeling a little overwhelmed.

Riley had been deliberately picking at her, and Logan had casually agreed to forgive her in exchange for a 2% profit margin.

But thinking about it again... a couple of insults in exchange for 2% ownership? That was a win. That 2% would earn millions annually in dividends.

Logan stared at her reply. His jaw clenched, and his eyes darkened inch by inch.

He didn’t finish his steak. Instead, he stood abruptly.

"Get dressed. You’re coming with me."

Selina: "???"

What the hell? It’s the middle of the night and he looks like he’s about to go punch someone. What is wrong with this man?

Just then, another message came in from Rowan:

[Alright. I understand now.]

Selina: "..."

Understand what, exactly?

What the hell was going on tonight?

Why were both these men acting so weird?
