The Medusa Gang's warship didn't look anything like a typical vessel.

The ship's design, shaped like a massive green serpent, featured a snake's head as the stern. It gave off a cold, almost living presence.

Matthew had taken a quick glance at its structure earlier. Instead of regular steel, the ship was made from some kind of S-shaped material—stronger and more durable than even high-grade steel.

When they stepped on board, Ryan offered to take the helm. Something in his expression gave away his worry. He half-expected Matthew to show off some flawless sailing skills that would make him feel wholly outclassed.

Up at the front, Matthew stood on the snake-shaped prow, quietly watching the sea.

The water below shimmered a soft blue. Schools of small fish moved in patterns just under the surface.

"Mr. Larden, is this your first time heading to Blackshore Island?" Ryan asked from the cockpit.

He had already set the ship to autopilot. Now dressed in a clean outfit and looking much more put-together than before, he seemed like a different person. He grabbed a sleek, high-end water bottle from the freezer and handed it to Matthew.

The design was elegant, almost over the top. Whatever was inside remained a mystery.

Matthew accepted the drink with a nod. "Appreciate it. Yeah, it's my first trip going there."

Ryan gave a slight nod in return. "There are some things I can't talk about until we're on the island. That's part of the rules."

"No worries." Matthew didn't press further. He thought Ryan was being cautious for a reason, and pushing for answers now, particularly after the help he'd already provided, would make it seem like he was merely attempting to take credit.

He turned his attention back to the sea. The number of fish near the surface had noticeably dropped.
