Feeling curious, Li Lingyun stood near the store for a while before he finally saw a woman’s purchases and realized the house was a grain store selling grains, dried vegetables, fruits, nuts, and various wines.
The moment he saw the items being sold in the store, a smile spread across his face. He hadn’t expected his third brother’s network to be this extensive—he even had a store in the capital.
All along, he thought he was the one living undercover. Unexpectedly, his third brother wasn’t simple either. It seemed their Li family’s genes were remarkable. Each of them is a smart and handsome person.
Feeling proud, Li Lingyun left the black market in a good mood. Not long after he left, a young man emerged from the store, looking in his direction.
"Boss, do you know that man?" one of the workers asked.
"That guy resembles our boss. He might be a relative," Luo Zhenhe said thoughtfully.
The worker nodded and asked, "Boss, when will you see the big boss again? The wine you brought last time is almost sold out."
"I will send a letter for more wine. We have a cooperation with the Han delivery group, so there is no need to go by ourselves. Let’s finish today’s sales and close early," Luo Zhenhe said casually.
"Understood."
Four days passed in the blink of an eye, and it was now July 11th. Early in the morning, loud knocking echoed through the house, waking Li Chenmo.
He opened his eyes, looked at the clock on his bedside table, and frowned. It was ten minutes before 2 a.m.—who could be here in the middle of the night?
Fearing it might be a thief, he slipped on his shoes and walked out quietly. In the hallway, he saw his second brother and asked, "Second brother, why are you up at this time instead of sleeping?"
Li Lingyun looked at his brother’s sleepy face and said, "Go back to bed, third brother. The knock must be my friends delivering the meat I requested."
Hearing this, Li Chenmo yawned and said, "Second brother, I will help you."
Li Lingyun nodded and opened the door. As soon as the door was opened, they found three people standing by a pickup truck.
As they approached, one of the men stepped forward while saying, "Brother Lingyun, we brought the meat over. We have stored it in jars with ice blocks to keep it fresh."
"Good, bring the jars in and place them by the well," Li Lingyun directed.
"Understood."
With the Li brothers’ help, they moved the jars in fifteen minutes. Before the men left, Li Lingyun said, "Come back tonight at six. Help me deliver the ingredients to my in-laws’ house."
The young man nodded and said, "Okay, I will bring our brothers along."
"Looks like I will be getting another sister or brother soon," he said while gasping for breath.
His father really showed no mercy when sparring with him. His body was bruised and swollen. Fortunately, his mother gave him wound ointment and massage oil. Otherwise, his body would have been turned into a purple potato by his father.
Dong Li looked up at the brightening sky, wondering how his younger siblings would look.
It would be great if it were a sister who looked like his mother—she would definitely be cute and beautiful. With a sister, Dong Huang would have someone to play with, and she would stop playing with those brats every day.
But a younger brother would be good too. He could teach him how to study, fish, and fight. With more men in the house, they would be better able to protect their family’s women.
Dong Li was lost in his imagination as he smiled to himself.
After a while, he returned to his senses and pushed himself up from the ground. He washed the dirt off his body, and went to help prepare breakfast. Since his father had said they would be the ones cooking, he knew he shouldn’t waste time daydreaming.
Meanwhile, in Xie village, Dong Huang looked up at the sky and let out a long sigh.
Walking beside her, Feng Lin asked worriedly when he heard her sigh for the nth time, "Xiao Huang, what’s wrong? Is something bothering you? You seem very listless lately."
