Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife novel Chapter 1030

Dong Li couldn’t wait to see who would win if his father and second uncle sparred. He observed with wide eyes as they began.

As he watched them sparred, he noticed that each of them had strengths and weaknesses. While his second uncle’s attacks were powerful and each of his attacks aimed at vital points, his father was more agile with better technique.

After nearly an hour, the difference in stamina began to put Li Lingyun at a disadvantage.

Watching this, Dong Li’s eyes lit up, realizing his father’s words were true. No matter how skilled one was, the body’s foundation was key. Good stamina and strength were essential to execute techniques flawlessly.

Ten minutes later, they finally stopped, with Li Lingyun lying on the ground and Li Chenmo’s fingers just inches from his throat.

Seeing this, Dong Li was certain that, if this were a real fight, his father’s move would have stopped the opponent’s breathing.

Helping his second brother up, Li Chenmo smiled and said, "Second brother, it seems you need to work more on your strength and stamina."

"It would be bad if you run out of energy in just an hour," he added with a teasing note in his voice.

Recalling how long his third brother was inside the room with his third sister-in-law, Li Lingyun’s face darkened as he kicked at his third brother and retorted, "You only won this time. Next time, I will be the one who beats you."

Li Chenmo laughed when he heard his second brother’s words and said with raised eyebrows, "Better to say that after you have actually beaten me, or you will just embarrass yourself."

Despite his annoyance at his third brother’s taunting, Li Lingyun learned a lot from this sparring. He took note of his weaknesses during the sparring and decided to step up his training. He couldn’t let his stamina disappoint his wife.

The day passed peacefully, and the next morning, they received a telegram from Lu Han, notifying them that the ingredients would arrive around five o’clock the next day.

Upon hearing this, Li Lingyun went to find his fiancée after having breakfast with the family. He needed to notify her so her family could prepare a place to store the ingredients. The night before the wedding reception, they needed to deliver ingredients.

Since Pan Meijia didn’t have work, she stayed home with her mother, preparing her dowry. While most of her dowry was prepared in the village, she had bought a few items from the department store, thanks to the industrial coupons Houzi and her boyfriend had given her.

Since industrial items were rarely sold in the county town, she had bought three packs of toothbrushes, each with ten brushes which was enough to last a long time. As for toothpaste, she had learned to make it herself from Jueyu, saving her the need to buy it with the coupons.

Mother Pan nodded gratefully and said, "If you are willing to help, we would be happy to have you. Even though my in-laws are preparing the menu and ingredients, we will need everyone’s help. We are hosting close to 40 tables, so the more hands, the better."

The neighbors’ eyes widened in surprise as soon as they heard Mother Pan’s words.

Most weddings they had attended had at most 10 to 15 tables. Forty tables were unheard of, and the cost alone must have been immense, not to mention the labor required.

A middle-aged woman thought for a moment then offered, "Sister-in-law, I could help with the cooking."

Pan Meijia sensed her real intentions and glanced at her. Having seen many villagers with similar behavior before, she sighed. The woman likely hoped to learn some recipes or take some dishes home for herself when everyone was busy.

Although she knew that her boyfriend would prepare a lot of ingredients, she still didn’t want anyone to take advantage of him.

So, she declined politely, "Aunty, thank you for your offer. But, there is no need for you to cook. My friend, Jueyu, is the best cook in the brigade. She can handle the cooking by herself."
