Love Beyond the Mask novel Chapter 1288

Tina watched Aunt Whitney walk away, then clambered into the car. “Sammy, your dad is seriously annoying, you know that?”

Sammy shot her a look. “Right back at ya. Yours isn’t any better.”

Tina just rolled her eyes. Who could argue with that? Both their dads were a real handful. Honestly, it was exhausting.

...

Private hospital room.

The moment Whitney walked in, the man’s cold, distant face instantly softened. He even brushed Shane aside and, lips curling into a faint smile, said, “Whitney, let’s head home together.”

Whitney didn’t move an inch. “Felix, wheel him out.”

She turned smartly on her heel, her figure graceful and confident. “Ludwik, your grandma’s worried sick. Are you gonna dawdle for hours over a twenty-minute drive?”

The man’s outstretched hand caught empty air.

Behind him, Shane finally couldn’t keep it in, his voice dripping with mischief. “Wow, I thought you were supposed to be the one calling the shots with women! Looks like you’ll be kneeling on a bed of Legos for a while, buddy. You’re definitely not the top dog at home, huh? Can’t say I’m not enjoying this.”

Ludwik shot him a frosty glare. “At least I’m only stuck with Lego duty. You? You’ll be lucky if you’re ever allowed back in your own house again. Who’s worse off now?”

Felix, who was caught in the middle, just sighed. Did these two powerhouses have to roast each other every single day?

Honestly, Felix was just grateful Parker and Ashton weren’t around.

Wait. Ashton probably wouldn’t have a wife to go home to anyway...

Soon, they were driving up Brew Hill, the ritziest neighborhood in the city. As they passed the gates to the Lippert estate at the very top, Whitney’s eyes widened. “Wait, we’re going up to the house? Didn’t your family just buy it back? Did your mom sell it to your dad already?”

Ludwik looked down, almost smiling. “Sell? Looks like they’re going to be a family soon enough, anyway.”

She caught his meaning, excitement flickering across her face. “So your dad finally won Natalie over?”

He glanced at her, eyes deep and unreadable. “You seem a little too happy about that.”

“Of course I am! Natalie deserves someone to lean on. Now I don’t have to worry about her anymore.”

The way her lips curved and her face softened made Ludwik’s eyes darken. He squeezed her hand again. “You care so much about my family’s business, but you still say you’re not part of it? Whitney, don’t make my mom worry about you, too.”

She rolled her eyes. “Ugh, don’t guilt-trip me.”
