Love Beyond the Mask novel Chapter 1186

Whitney paused, then couldn’t help but laugh.

Her dad always looked so refined and classy—never a hair out of place. In the Brew Hill elite circle, he was legendary for his good looks. Whitney had overheard more than a few society ladies whispering that Holly’s looks didn’t quite measure up to her father’s.

Whitney took after her mom, but she’d inherited the best of her father’s features too, making her strikingly beautiful.

With a mock-serious nod, she agreed, “You definitely need a shirt. No matter what, you’re always the most dashing silver fox around.”

Hudson groaned, embarrassed. “What nonsense! Are you teasing your old man now?”

Whitney grinned, their bond obvious as she stuck out her tongue playfully. “Alright, alright. I’ll go grab you a shirt. The housekeeper put some in your closet—what color are you feeling?”

Color?

Hudson hadn’t thought about his wardrobe in ages.

Still, with his tall, broad-shouldered frame, he could pull off darker tones like nobody’s business.

“Navy blue, I think,” Hudson said after a moment, a bit distracted. He remembered how Parisa always loved him in dark suits. Her taste was cool and understated, just like her own frosty elegance—but when she warmed up to someone, she’d shine with a passion he could never forget.

She was the kind of woman who’d truly loved him.

He’d lost her, and no one else could fill that space.

Whitney fetched a shirt for her dad, and after he changed in the bathroom, she wheeled his chair to the door.

Whitney finally made her way to the cafeteria, thinking she’d better pick up some soup for Ludwik. Parker was sweet but hopeless in the kitchen—who knew if he even realized post-surgery patients needed something light? If he served Ludwik a whole Thanksgiving dinner, the poor guy would probably flip the table.

Thinking of her sons, she called Danny on his smartwatch.

His chipper little voice piped up, “Mommy! Where are you? Are you still glued to Daddy? Sammy wouldn’t let me visit Dad, said you two needed alone time to patch things up after the drama.”

Whitney’s face flushed as her son roasted her. “Sammy’s ideas are getting wilder every day, and you just go along with him! Are you two trying to give me a heart attack?”

“Mommy. I haven’t even done anything! And now you’re calling me dumb? Is that how you really see me? Boo-hoo—who do you think made me this way, huh?”

Danny let out a dramatic wail, his voice cracking.
