Chapter 159

Diane exchanged glances with Megan and they were both utterly speechless. With more than two hundred people there and several among them who could hold their own against a dozen or even several dozen men, it was appalling that Severin could even make a statement that the

bodyguards were ‘like ants’. He could bluff without batting an eye and without the smallest ounce of shame.

“Well, we have nothing more to worry about now that Diane will finally continue working at the company,” Felicia said with a smile. “After you become the general manager, you can’t continue to let your father remain as an ordinary warehouse manager with a deducted salary, right?”

Diane smiled softly in response and said, “Of course not!”

Felicia’s eyes lit up and she looked eagerly at Diane. “Can he get a promotion or something of the

sort?”

“Absolutely not.” Diane shook her head. “I plan to fire him.”

“WHAT?!” Felicia nearly vomited blood. “What do you mean, Diane? You’re going to fire him? How could you be more ruthless than Stanley? Do you want him to completely lose his job?!”

Her mother’s excited look elicited a chuckle from Diane as she covered her mouth and laughed. Don’t you think you’re getting too riled up, Mom? Even Dad is calmer than you are.” After a pause, Diane continued, “I was just joking, Mom. I don’t mean to fire Dad. I just want him to retire early. The company allows two or three people to get early retirement every year, right? I’ll make sure Dad gets one! Once he stops working, the monthly dividends given to retired employees by the company are about two or three times more than his usual working salary. That should be better, right?”

“That’s more like it! You scared me to death earlier!” Felicia’s grief turned into joy.

Blade could not help but ask curiously when he saw his superior like that.

Larry smiled bitterly, and said, “I’m now worried that our supreme leader will call me for help out of the blue!”

“Why should you be? He’s our supreme leader! If it weren’t for him, we’d all be dead by today. He saved our lives, and our lives belong to him! I’d do anything he asks me to, even if it means going through a mountain of swords and a sea of flames!” Blade was even more puzzled at Larry’s reply and did not know why Larry would say something so unlike him.

“Sigh, I’m more than happy to work hard for him, but the tricky thing is when he asks me to help without letting me reveal his identity. I can use the excuse of seeking his help to treat my mother’s illness, but what about next time? My mother can’t just be sick all the time, and I can’t use that excuse all the time either!” Larry said.
