Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 157

"Do you really think that letting Skyler leave the Capital would stop Zavier from going after her?" Marcus knew Zavier cared about Skyler, so he agreed to let her go, but Cornelia didn't know that.

Cornelia felt something was off, "President Hartley, what do you mean?"

Marcus continued, "This time, I personally took her away, and Zavier allowed me to do so. But you should know what kind of person Zavier is. If you're not sure, you can ask Skyler if she wants to stay at the Blueshell Mansion. Ask her, and then tell me the answer."

Cornelia had heard a lot of rumors about Zavier, the most important of which was that he was a very vengeful person.

If Zavier only let Skyler go temporarily because of Marcus, then as soon as Skyler was out of Marcus's protection, Zavier could take her back at any time.

Skyler almost lost her life trying to escape Zavier, and Cornelia couldn't just stand by and watch her be taken back to the Capital.

The only person who could help Skyler settle down in Riverton was Marcus, and he was willing to lend a hand. Cornelia didn't see any reason to refuse.

She said, "No need to ask, let Skyler stay at the Blueshell Mansion. Please continue to protect her, President Hartley."

Marcus said, "I brought my friend's wife to Riverton and arranged for her to stay at my house. What do you think my wife would think?"

Cornelia asked, "So what's the point of you saying all this?"

Marcus's goal had always been Cornelia, "Like I said before, you two live together in the Blueshell Mansion."

She was just called silly, but when it came to money, she was very clever. She didn't want to pay rent and came up with so many excuses.

No matter what method was used, Marcus's goal was achieved, "Alright, let's do it as you say."

Thinking she didn't have to pay such a high rent and completely unaware of the trap, Cornelia was thrilled, "Thank you, President Hartley! You're so kind!"

Marcus thought to himself, "Fool!"

She fell for his trap so easily. If it wasn't him who tricked her this time, but another man, would she be easily taken home by other men as well?
