There was this saying, everyone had their own forte. Tahlia was a pro at finance, but had zero experience in secretarial work. So, making her the president’s personal assistant might not be the smartest move. There was gotta be a better fit within the president's secretary department. Cornelia wasn't sure if Marcus had a soft spot for Tahlia because of her. But, since Marcus had made up his mind, he must have his reasons and she respected that.
"Alright, I'll sort out the handover." Cornelia said.
Marcus didn't say anything more and headed back to his office.
After Marcus left, Yolanda gave Cornelia an ambiguous smile, "Cornelia, are you quitting because you're planning to have a baby?"
Cornelia replied, "There are other people around. Don't talk nonsense."
Yolanda said, "We all know Tahlia is your sister, stop pretending."
Cornelia looked at Tahlia.
Tahlia playfully tugged Cornelia's arm, "I didn't spill the beans. Just because we have the same last name and people think we look alike, they figured it out."
Cornelia didn't blame Tahlia, she smiled and patted her head, "Yolanda, thank you for looking after Tahlia."
Yolanda said, "Tahlia is just as bright as you, she catches on quickly. Even though she has never been a secretary before, I believe she can handle being the president's personal assistant."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence." Cornelia said.
"Alright, get back to work, I won't bother you anymore. Remember to come back and visit, I'm curious to see how cute your baby with President Hartley will be." Yolanda said.
Cornelia laughed and said, "Sure, I will."
Yolanda went back to her office, and Cornelia took Tahlia to the personal assistant’s office.
Tahlia was a bit worried, "Nelly, I don't know how I ended up being chosen as the president's personal assistant. I've only been here a few days, do you think I can handle this job?"
During the handover, Cornelia realized she had underestimated Tahlia. Tahlia's understanding and grasp of the personal assistant's work far exceeded her expectations. Without a doubt, she had a lot of potential.
Cornelia spent an entire day handing over all her responsibilities to Tahlia, and officially completed the resignation procedures. This meant, from this moment on, she was no longer the personal assistant to the president of the Hartley Group, Marcus.
Her relationship with Marcus was no longer boss and employee, she was just Jeremy's wife.
Cornelia looked at the place where she had worked for over a year. The more she looked, the less she wanted to leave, until she heard Marcus' deep voice behind her, "Cornelia."
She turned around and saw Marcus standing at the door.
Marcus reached out his hand, "Let's go home."
All the reluctance disappeared at that moment. She walked towards him with a smile and put her hand in his. "Alright, let's go home."
