Horace’s gaze hardened. “Then do you know that Steven was the one who deliberately sent Queena to see you?”
My mind went completely blank.
When Queena showed up back then, I always thought she was just being delusional. I even figured Steven might not have known she existed.
In a way, Queena was the cause of everything. After she confronted me, I stormed out in anger, got into a car accident, lost the baby, and started drinking to cope, which eventually led to my death from cancer.
All this time, the person I hated was that lunatic, Queena.
I shook my head. “That’s impossible.”
Steven loved our child, too. I clearly remember how devastated he was when we lost the baby. I never understood his coldness afterward until this life, when I realized he thought I was in love with Horace and had aborted the baby on purpose.
So, I couldn’t believe Steven would harm his own child.
Horace’s eyes were cold. “Zephyra, you don't know Steven at all. I’ve told you before, he’s not a good person. A man like that is capable of anything.”
I listened quietly, still refusing to believe him.
“In your past life, Steven deliberately sent that madwoman Queena to you because he wanted you to lose the baby. He always thought you were in love with me—he probably even thought the child was mine!”
As Horace continued, a chill crept over me, but I stubbornly held onto my disbelief.
“Steven wouldn’t do that.”
Horace scoffed. “Why not? Steven’s a man. If he thought that baby was mine, would he still want it? He’d probably want to get rid of it immediately.”
