I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 807

I shook my head, trying to dismiss the thought. Impossible. Even if I didn't hate him anymore, I could never fall for him again.

A sudden blaze of anger flared up inside me. “Go tell him to get lost! If he wants to stand in the rain, he can do it somewhere else. If he drops dead here, no one will even collect his body!”

My sudden shift in mood startled Tess. After a brief pause, she nodded quickly, gathered her things, and left.

I drew the curtains tight and collapsed onto the sofa, repeating to myself over and over: I can't possibly still have feelings for Steven. Absolutely not.

I've just been spending too much time with him lately. That's why I instinctively started caring for him, like a friend.

As long as I keep my distance for a while, I'll surely go back to hating him just like before.

A few minutes later, Tess returned to report that Steven still refused to leave.

I couldn't be bothered with him and started getting ready for bed. But then my phone buzzed with a dozen messages from Mrs. Spencer, all of them blaming me, demanding to know why I had brought Steven there.

I frowned and gave her a brief explanation.

But I couldn't tell if Mrs. Spencer genuinely didn't understand or simply refused to. She just kept blaming me, even saying some nasty things.

I could understand she was worried about Horace, but I was still annoyed. Why wasn't she angry with Steven? Why was she directing all her fury at me?

Figuring she was just deeply upset, I tried to patiently console her. Just as she seemed to be calming down, she called me. I answered without thinking.

Rachel's furious voice erupted from the other end.
