I Only Want You novel Chapter 71

They looked over, and saw that a white soccer ball was flying straight towards Elizabeth Liang!

Judging from the speed of the ball, the kicker must've mustered all of his strength to send this ball flying. If the ball landed on a person, it would be a scarily heavy blow!

As soon as Evelyn Wu saw the ball, she immediately widened her eyes in horror and screamed, and then completely stopped moving. She blankly watched as the ball came closer and closer...

The ball was soaring through the air at such a ferocious speed that Elizabeth couldn't bring herself to react. She was sure that the ball was going to hit her squarely in the face!

She was so frightened that she just froze in place.

Across from them, James Lu's eyes darkened. He angrily and anxiously looked towards Elizabeth, who was freaked out of her mind - That idiot, didn't she know how to dodge?

James couldn't even be bothered to look at Margot Wang in front of him when he furiously shouted at her, "Son of a b*tch, I told you to let the f*ck go!!"

All of his caution flew out of the window. He forcefully tore off Margot's hands from his body, then gave her a heavy push to the side, and rushed forward as fast as he could.

It all happened so suddenly that Margot actually fell over this time when he pushed her. Her knees were scraped and she began tearing up from the pain. She stared at James's back in a daze, without realizing what James was doing yet.

The ball was even closer now!

Elizabeth sighed in her heart and accepted her fate by closing her eyes.

When she closed her eyes, she could vaguely hear the whoosh of the soccer ball flying towards her. She was definitely going to take the hit!

All of a sudden, somebody pulled Elizabeth and gently spun her around, and then she fell into a somewhat familiar embrace.

She was still stunned when she clearly felt that the person's back was hit by something. The slight tremor caused her head to lean back a little.

The soccer ball bounced a couple of times on the ground and gradually came to a stop.

Everyone on the field let out a sigh of relief, and then they began whistling exaggeratedly. Some were even clapping their hands.

Someone was yelling, "Hero to the rescue!"

Elizabeth was still dazed as she leaned in the man's arms.

The familiar scent of cedarwood and faint tobacco filled her nostrils.

A smile formed on Elizabeth's lips. It was him!

"Are you okay?" James asked softly, with worry and concern in his tone.

"Yeah.” James seemed relieved by her reply. He let go of her and examined her carefully. Then his face twisted again. "Are you an idiot, Elizabeth? Don't you know to dodge the ball when you see it coming?"

"You what? You are hopelessly stupid? It's bad enough that you don't know how to do anything other than study, but you can't even do easy stuff like this?" James was annoyed and frustrated just from thinking about what happened just now.

"..." Elizabeth hesitated for a moment and replied in an embarrassed and quiet voice, "I was scared."

"By your stupidity?"

Was she wrong for simply existing?

"What does this have to do with Elizabeth, President Fang? Can't you see that she's scared?" Evelyn protested angrily.

"You..."

James was already quite unhappy to see President Fang scolding Elizabeth, so he said slowly, "I agree with what this student is saying. The one you should be held responsible is not the person who just happened to be here, but the person who recklessly kicked the ball, don't you think so, President Fang?"

President Fang nodded repeatedly in embarrassment. Then he bellowed towards the field, "Are you all nuts? Didn't you see where you were kicking the ball? You had the audacity to kick it over here and not apologize when you hit someone?"

What he really wanted to say was why they have to kick his moneybag.

Looking at the stationary soccer ball on the ground, he bent over to pick it up and hold it in his arms. "Every person who played soccer on the field today must write a ten-thousand-word apology letter!"

The field was instantly filled with waves of groans and complaints. President Fang believed that he had done an adequate job of addressing the issue, and his face brightened a bit. "Are you hurt anywhere, Mr. Lu? Is everything fine?"

James shook his head in a graceful and reserved manner.

"That was heroic, Mr. Lu! If it weren't for you, Mr. Lu," he sighed and looked at Elizabeth. "Hurry up and say thank you to Mr. Lu, Ms. Liang!"

Elizabeth paused and widened her eyes. She looked at James and saw that he was watching her with a look of amusement.

Elizabeth thought for a moment and eventually said in a quiet voice, "Thank you."

James raised his eyebrows and smirked slyly. "What did you say? I didn't hear you!"
