"You ..."
Elizabeth Liang couldn't move. Her pretty face turned white from panic and the force that was put on it.
James Lu lifted her hands above her head and got even closer to her.
"What did you think of me as? A roommate? Or a saint who was helping you with no conditions at all?"
His warm breath blew onto her face, and the heat caused her pale complexion to instantly flush red.
"..." Elizabeth managed to shake her head a little under his grasp.
"Ha!" James sneered, "We're barely newly-weds, and you've already forgotten whose surname you took?"
Elizabeth frantically shook her head.
"Should I do something to make sure you remember?" James leaned closer and their noses touched. "How about a kiss?"
Elizabeth's heart pounded violently in alarm. "No ..."
He glared at her and snorted. Instead of kissing her, he pushed her onto the sofa.
Elizabeth was a little dazed from the impact and looked at him blankly. "James ..."
He looked down at her and said, "Go and quit your job tomorrow!" Elizabeth recovered from the dizziness, shook her head and firmly refused him, "No!"
"Damn it!"
"The job I found is perfect for my studies. I'm gonna go no matter what you say!"
Although her duties did not currently involve design, she was sure to learn a lot of things even just from being there.
After all, Rome wasn't built in a day. It wasn't a bad thing for her to start from the ground up.
"Elizabeth Liang!"
After acting tough, she went back to reasoning with him. "My work is really simple. I promise I'll still cook dinner for you." Then she added awkwardly, "Except for today."
"Very well!" James nodded with narrowed eyes, almost squeezing out the words from his gritted teeth. "Just wait and see, I'll make you quit on your own!"
******
James was in such a terrible mood that he was annoyed by everything he saw.
The file was too high up - throw it on the floor! The fountain pen wasn't placed properly - throw it on the floor! The telephone wire was too long - throw it on the floor! The decoration on the desk was too fancy - throw it on the floor...
Samuel Lee stood still with a shock on his face. Watching the clean and tidy office was transformed into a disastrous mess, he thought to himself - It was that time of the month for him again!
When James was about to throw away his computer in irritation, Samuel finally couldn't help but rush over and grab onto it for dear life.
"Please calm down, boss, calm down!"
"F*ck off!" Samuel was nothing but a nuisance to James, who was extremely frustrated at the moment, and he wanted to throw him outside along with everything else!
Samuel grinned and asked patiently, "Tell me, boss, who riled you up like this? I'll get rid of them for you right away!"
He was going to get rid of Elizabeth? He's got some balls!
James grunted and said, "Look at you trying so hard to speak for her. Did she give you something behind my back?"
"I swear on the Lord Above that she absolutely didn't!" Samuel raised his hand as a show of good faith. "I think that it's very respectable that she's willing to work so hard despite the natural advantage of her beauty!"
James stayed silent. He lit a cigarette and wondered if he was too harsh on her.
After having a smoke, he seemed to be in a better mood.
James looked at Samuel and raised his eyebrows. "You did a lot of talking and standing, time to move your bones, eh?" With this, he pointed to the mess on the ground and ordered, "Put everything back in place."
Samuel looked miserable. "Boss ..."
"My order is final!"
"Ack! Alright!" He was the boss after all. Samuel cheered up his boss by being his therapist, and now he's rewarded with the job of cleaning up the place. What an unfair world!
James leaned back in the chair with his legs crossed and his hands on the armrest, looking very relaxed as he waited for Samuel to restore the office to its original state.
"Has A University been here to talk about building a library?"
Samuel thought for a moment and nodded. "Yes, but you didn't agree to it."
James smirked. "What if I agree now?"
"What?"
He stood up and straightened his shirt. "Let's go, to A University!"
