I Only Want You novel Chapter 61

There was only one class in the afternoon.

As soon as class was over, Elizabeth Liang packed up her books and went to find Evelyn Wu's senior friend.

At Kuture.

It was a medium- sized private fashion design studio and had gained a solid reputation in A City in the past few years. Not only did many famous socialites seek out their designs, but many celebrities also came to have their clothes custom-made.

Elizabeth talked to the receptionist when she arrived. After a while, a fashionably dressed young lady came out to meet her.

"You're Elizabeth Liang, right?" The lady had long and wavy chestnut hair and looked very chic and stylish. She was not remarkably pretty, but had a charming aura to her.

"Yes, and you're Evelyn's senior?"

Evelyn's senior friend was not actually an A University student. They used to attend the same high school, but the senior later went abroad to study fashion design for two years.

"Yes," the woman nodded and added. "I'm not your school senior here. I'm Amy. Remember, when you meet someone here who is in a higher position than you, you must address them as miss or mister." Elizabeth had heard about these fashion industry customs before.

Elizabeth nodded, a little nervous and a little excited at the same time. "Yes, got it, Miss Amy."

"Let's go. I'll take you to Lisa."

Elizabeth followed behind Amy as she looked around the studio. The interior design was very contemporary and artistic. Almost everything was in a bright and minimalistic white.

"Lisa is our boss. She will arrange your job after meeting you." Amy explained as she walked.

"I see. Thank you, Miss Amy."

They soon arrived outside of an office.

Amy knocked on the door and pushed it open, "Lisa, this is Elizabeth Liang, the one my junior friend recommended to me."

Lisa was sitting behind an office desk as she drew something. There was an unlit cigarette between her lips, and her straight hair was neatly tied into a ponytail.

When she heard Amy, she looked up and narrowed her eyes at Elizabeth as she twirled a pencil with her fingers.

She looked relaxed and leisurely, yet shrewd and imperious all at once.

Elizabeth pursed her lips and said, "Hello Miss Lisa, I am Elizabeth Liang."

"I'll leave you guys to it," after that, Amy opened the glass door and went out.

Lisa lit the cigarette in her mouth, took a long drag, and then exhaled a straight wisp of white smoke. She was clearly a seasoned woman, but she did not make people feel uncomfortable or repulsed.

"Elizabeth Liang? A top student from A University?" Lisa spoke calmly in a somewhat husky voice.

Elizabeth quickly gave a humble reply, "Top student would be an exaggeration, Miss Lisa."

"Too much modesty is also a form of conceit," Lisa smiled and continued. "Do you know what you have to do here?"

Elizabeth nodded. "I have a vague idea."

Lisa raised her eyebrows and said, "It's very simple. All you need to do is cleaning up the studio every day, making sure the samples are tidy and organizing the drawings in my office. Of course, you'll also need to help me contact my clients and ask about their requirements."

Elizabeth paused for a while. Was she applying to be an assistant or a minion?

"Miss Lisa..."

"Yes?"

"I..." Elizabeth hesitated for a moment before she asked. "I thought I was going to be an assistant? Why..."

Lisa smiled and said, "As far as I know, you don't have any work experience at all. You've got good grades, but I need more than empty talk from my employees. Of course, if you feel undermined, you can find another position at another place."

"No, I think ..." Elizabeth clenched her teeth. "This is good." She needed a job right now. And most importantly, she could meet many brilliant designers by working here. She would be sure to learn a lot of things even if she was just an errand girl, right?

It was quite a dramatic series of events from Yesterday's happenings to today's plot twist!

"We didn't spend a single penny and this treasure just landed in our lap, boss. You gotta make sure that you show your gratitude to Miss Liang."

James couldn't bear listening to him anymore, so he turned to walk to his car.

"Hey! Where are you going, boss?" Samuel looked at the time and saw that it was half past four. "You're really going to show your gratitude right now?" He was answered only with two thick streams of exhaust from the back of James's maybach.

He sped his car all the way back to South Lake Villa.

The house was cold and cheerless since Elizabeth wasn't home yet.

James looked at the time. It was only five o'clock.

He stared at the hands in his watch moving along bit by bit, and looked out from the floor-to-ceiling window every now and then towards the spot where Elizabeth usually arrived home.

He felt impatient yet anxious.

He had signed the deal for the property downtown today, but he couldn't feel any joy or excitement. Instead, he felt as if the immense weight of the entire piece of land was crushing down on his heart.

The weight pressed down on James, making him feel depressed and miserable.

When he recalled Elizabeth's attitude this morning, at first he felt annoyed that she didn't appreciate his generosity. But now he realized that she seemed to be genuinely mad at him.

Ugh!

James irritably lit a cigarette and cursed at his heart, "That god damn bullheaded woman, what the hell was up with her attitude?"

He waited patiently until six o'clock, but Elizabeth still hasn't returned. The dinner would have usually been ready by now. He was a little hungry.

After some thought, he took out his cellphone and called her...
