I Only Want You novel Chapter 33

"Why are you silent? Are you still mad at me?" James Lu saw Elizabeth Liang's expression and asked while driving.

James didn't know why either, but he couldn't stop wondering if Elizabeth was feeling any better all through today's meeting.

Then during lunch, he suddenly wondered if she would bring leftovers to school again without him knowing. He took a few mindless bites of his food and lost his appetite. So he picked up his coat and headed straight to A University.

He had to know if she was eating properly.

But to James's utter surprise, he saw Elizabeth walking out of the cafeteria with that god d*mn Theodore Chao the moment he arrived.

"No." Elizabeth leaned back on her seat and answered softly.

James forced her to leave school with him after he said what he said to Theodore.

"That motherf*cker just won't learn, huh!" James snorted.

"..." Recalling what Theodore said to her, Elizabeth wanted to ask James if he really stole the deal with Simon Wang. But after some thought, she decided not to.

What did it have to do with her?

James spoke as if he suddenly remembered something. "Is there anyone else chasing you in school, other than Theodore?" She must have a few admirers considering how attractive she was.

Elizabeth didn't know why he was asking, but decided to answer honestly, "Uh... kind of."

She was known as the cutest girl in the design department, and she also had top- notch grades, so...

Hearing her answer, James frowned and glanced at her condescendingly. "Are they blind? Why you of all people?"

"... Excuse me?"

"Are any of them over the top about it?"

"Probably..." Elizabeth didn't really know what to say. ... not.

"Probably not?" He snorted. "So yes there are?"

"If you count stuff like giving flowers and setting up scented candles."

"What?!" James widened his eyes, then felt like he was overreacting. So he sneered and said mockingly, "Are they in elementary school?"

"Looks like I have to put my mark on you as soon as possible!"

Elizabeth was confused. "What?"

Instead of answering, James asked another question. "How are you feeling?"

Elizabeth knew that he was referring to her stomach. "I'm all good now." "Okay." He nodded. "Then let's go today."

"To where?"

"We're getting registered, remember? Of course, we're going to the courthouse! You got a problem with that?"

The person who had packed Elizabeth's things was probably the maid of the Liang mansion, so Elizabeth's residence booklet and ID card were fortunately included in her luggage.

After making a trip back to South Lake villa to gather the necessary credentials, James drove them to the local courthouse. There were no traces of his usual cockiness and frivolity along the way, as he tightly pursed his lips and knit his eyebrows together as if he was deep in thought.

Elizabeth wasn't sitting easy in the passenger seat either, as apprehension, nervousness and anxiety overwhelmed her mind.

Half an hour later, the Maybach stopped outside a courthouse.

They sat in the car as James smoked two cigarettes in a row before he finally turned to look at her. "You can still go back on this."

Elizabeth grabbed the hem of her clothes, thought for a few seconds, then shook her head gently.

She didn't have any other choice by now, did she? Marrying James was the only hope left for her. But she was still worried. She's marrying him because she needs a patron to help take back what she had lost, and he's marrying her because of another woman...

Should she really walk into a marriage like this? A marriage without any love?

He was still unwilling to admit defeat. She was the only woman he's ever loved, and for so long too.

If... she decided to come back today, James could ignore who she loved in the past or who she was with before, as long as she came back...

"Sorry, the number you dialed has been turned off..."

A cold female voice came from the other end of the phone, interrupting his thought.

James's eyes were cool and indifferent. He smiled lightly and looked again at the picture on the screen. Then he ended the call and opened the door to get out. "Why are you two so far apart? Sit closer!" The photographer looked at the two people in the shot and pointed to the space between them.

"You're here to get married, aren't you? Closer!"

James was clearly running out of patience. He glared irritably at the photographer across from him and looked over at Elizabeth with disdain. Seeing that she obediently shuffled closer to him, he pouted and moved to the middle as well.

He'll do it, if he has to.

"Come on you two, face the camera and smile!"

Elizabeth raised the corners of her lips and smiled at the camera.

"Your wife's got a beautiful smile, mister, why don't you give me one too?"

James thought to himself: I'm not going to, and you can't do anything about it.

"Mister..."

The photographer eventually gave up.

The camera clicked.

The frame froze at that moment, and the two were tied together, forever.
