The next day, Elizabeth Liang got up at the break of dawn. Her patron needed breakfast.
She spent two whole hours simmering a pot of porridge. James Lu came downstairs just as she placed two bowls of it on the table.
He wore a dark purple suit over a pink dress shirt, and a burgundy tie around his neck. His hair was carefully combed and hairsprayed, with each hair perfectly in place.
At first sight Elizabeth found his attire rather excessive, but when she took a second look, she thought that it actually fit his appearance quite well.
The colors suited his light skin, it looked neither too frivolous nor outdated. Elizabeth's always thought of him as good- looking, but he looked especially handsome and dignified today.
"Breakfast is ready." Elizabeth set down the chopsticks and yelled at James.
James walked over and looked condescendingly at the table. Placed on it were two bowls of soft and fragrant porridge, two boiled eggs and a plate of mixed radish strips. He immediately felt offended. "Who wants to eat this in the morning?"
She not only failed to prepare the freshly-ground coffee that he needed every morning, she also had the gall to make him eat plain boiled eggs?
"... What else are you supposed to eat in the morning? It took me a long time to make this, it's good for your stomach."
"No thanks." James glared at Elizabeth and went straight to the shoe cabinet to change his shoes.
"You're not gonna eat?" Elizabeth felt pretty bummed-out. All that trouble in the morning went for absolutely nothing. If she had known beforehand she could've had two more hours of sleep.
Elizabeth watched as James put on his shoes without answering her question, when she suddenly had an idea. "Wait! Can you... give me a ride? Just to the bus station!"
It took her thirty freaking minutes to walk to the bus station yesterday!
After asking, she didn't have time for breakfast either, so she turned to rush into the kitchen.
But when Elizabeth came out with a lunch box in her arms, she was only greeted with the sound of the door closing.
"Hey! You..."
With no time for self- pity, Elizabeth hurriedly changed her shoes. When she went out, she saw that the Maybach was parked in front of the house. James had rolled the window down and was sitting in the car with one hand holding the wheel and the other holding a cigarette and leaning against the sill. He looked very relaxed.
Delighted, Elizabeth hurried forward.
See, he's not as heartless as he pretended to be. He waited for her! Just as Elizabeth ran to the side of James's car, he gave her a handsome and innocent smile, gently flicked the cigarette out the window, then stepped on his gas pedal. And with that, the car ruthlessly drove off!
Elizabeth was left behind as she was mercilessly sprayed with the exhaust.
She couldn't help coughing a little. Her face was sullen and she was so frustrated she wanted to scream.
That was evil! He could have left first, but he had to make her think that he was waiting for her! He was just pulling her leg!
"What the f*ck! That a*shole!" She continued to cough.

At lunchtime, Elizabeth and Evelyn Wu found a remote corner in the cafeteria and chatted while they ate.
"How has it been, living at your friend's house?"
Elizabeth thought about it and remembered James's evil deed this morning. She frowned slightly and said, "It's okay." Other than the fact that it's really far from school and how difficult it was to deal with James, it wasn't too bad.
"I'm glad to hear that." Evelyn was relieved. "But I wish you could continue to live in the school dorm, at least I have a friend. Now that you're gone, I don't even have someone to talk to."
Evelyn's heart ached.
Elizabeth was never a spoiled rotten princess who wasted everything, but she didn't have to...
Evelyn kept those thoughts to herself, and just widened the smile on her face. She dragged Elizabeth's lunch box to the middle of the table and waved her chopsticks around wildly. "A foodie like me would never turn down a delicacy!"
Evelyn picked up a big piece of food and filled her mouth with it. It was delicious!
"Mmmm! Elizabeth, you're so good at cooking, even better than my mom!" Evelyn's words were muffled from the food in her mouth, but she made sure to give a big thumbs-up to Elizabeth. "If you're gonna bring your own lunch again, please bring more for me! I'm so sick of the cafeteria food, and the guy who serves lunch is a d*ck!"
Elizabeth smiled and said, "Don't worry, I'm probably bringing lunch every day from now on, I'll make sure there's enough for you too."
"Really?"
"Yep."
If she's going to have to make ten dishes and a soup every day, of course there's always going to be leftovers. "Great!"
"By the way, did you ask about the part-time job?" Elizabeth's wallet was getting thinner and thinner.
"I've asked a friend at the part-time agency to look for an opening, don't worry, I'll tell you if anything happens."
"Okay. Please hurry them if you can, I desperately need a job right now."
"No problem! But Elizabeth, do you have any requirements for your job? Or do you not care at all?"
"Well, I'd prefer higher wages. Most importantly I just have to avoid four to six in the afternoon. I have to go back to my friend's house during that time."
