Elizabeth's face turned pale as she shouted furiously, "Did you not hear me? F*ck off?!"
"What? Did you?" Theodore looked at her with a disgusted expression, then immediately grabbed her chin violently. "Don't gloat over f*cking James Lu, Elizabeth, you're still nothing to him, you're just his toy!"
"Was tonight not exciting enough for you, Master Chao? Is that why you're looking for trouble?" James Lu, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere, spoke calmly to Theodore, but his eyes were hostile.
"James!" In Elizabeth's eyes, he looked like a shining knight.
Theodore had no idea that James had followed him, and while he was in a daze Elizabeth gave him a forceful push. He stumbled two steps backwards before barely steadying himself.
James walked to Elizabeth. "Are you okay?"
Elizabeth nodded.
"You call this okay?" He looked at the bruises on her shoulders that were Theodore's making, and his eyes darkened.
"Theodore Chao, I had thought that we would not interfere with each other's affairs, but that is not the case anymore. I could forgive you for messing with my cake, but... you shouldn't have messed with the woman who's mine. Who do you think you are?"
They left the bathroom, leaving behind Theodore who looked dead inside. They did not go back to the private room. James took Elizabeth away from the Grand Dynasty Hotel.
"Aren't we going back?"
"What for?"
"You didn't eat anything." He hadn't taken a single bite since the food arrived.
"I don't want to do that anymore! Let's go."
While waiting for the elevator, James glanced at Elizabeth beside him, took off his suit jacket and draped it over her, then pulled the jacket closed.
Surprised, Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. She looked at him dumbly.
"Ahem..." He coughed softly. "It's cold outside. Put it

on.
It was almost June, how could it be cold?
Elizabeth thought, but she did not resist. It did make her a little uncomfortable that the dress was so revealing, and she still couldn't forget what Theodore said to her. She felt much better with his clothes on.
"Thank you," she said sincerely.
"I just don't want you to freeze to death, don't make anything out of it!" After saying that, he couldn't help but mutter quietly, "What a sh*tty dress, doesn't cover anything, I hate it!" "You're... staying today?"
Elizabeth Liang was surprised to see James Lu follow her into the house and change into slippers.
James looked at her grumpily. "This is my house!" Then he headed to the living room with a petulant expression.
Did this mean that he wasn't angry anymore? Elizabeth wondered in glee.
She followed him hurriedly and said, "I'll cook something right away, just wait for a while." James didn't eat anything tonight, he must be starving.
She turned around and rushed upstairs. Two minutes later, she came downstairs wearing a set of comfortable loungewear.
James turned on the TV as he watched Elizabeth bustle about. Soon after, he heard the rumbling of the kitchen ventilator.
Elizabeth busied herself in the kitchen. She made two simple dishes and a soup with the few ingredients left in the fridge — shredded pork with garlic sauce, vinegar cabbage, and seaweed soup.
Twenty minutes later, James looked at the dinner table with a dissatisfied expression. "If I recall correctly I believe that you had a full banquet tonight, but THIS is what you're serving me instead? Really?"
He was pleased to have bullied Theodore Chao, but he wasn't interested in the food.
James supposed that Theodore had become his "rival" in a sense. He found it hard to swallow food paid for by a rival. He walked around with an empty stomach from midday to ten o'clock at night, and this is how she repays him?
"This was all we have at home. I'll go and shop for something you like tomorrow, so just bear with this today okay? Please?" She said as sweetly as possible.
Elizabeth had no money to spend while living on her own. In the past few days, she had to borrow money from Evelyn Wu to afford groceries. She didn't ask for much, even though she had no idea how long this would go on for. She was very careful with her budget, prioritizing James's meal while only making a simple stir-fry or bowl of noodles for herself.
"Hmph!" Seeing her amenable attitude and the rather tasty- looking dishes, he decided to very reluctantly make do with them just for this once.
"Um..." Seeing that James has dug in, Elizabeth sat across from him. "Do you mind if I discuss something with you?"
James couldn't even bother to look up and reply. He just nodded slightly.
"Today's Friday, so I'd like to go back to school next week, is that okay with you?" She hasn't gone to school in over a week, and now that exams were coming up, Evelyn called her twice almost every day telling her to hurry.
"Then will we have a wedding ceremony?"
"Do you think I don't have enough money to hold a wedding?" His temper was a little stirred.
"That's not what I mean..." She hesitated for a moment and then said, "But... can we hold off the wedding for a while?"
Hearing this, James glared at her with mild irritation. "What do you mean?"
"Don't push it, Elizabeth Liang."
"No, don't get me wrong. I'm saying that we can get our marriage certificates first, but can we have the wedding... after I graduate? I'm still in school, if people find out that I'm married to you...then..."
If Elizabeth's teachers and classmates knew that she was married, especially to a man like James... it wouldn't really affect her studies, but she was worried about what her teachers and fellow students would think of her.
"Then what?" He sneered. "Are you embarassed to be Mrs. Lu?"
"No... that's not what I meant..." She quickly replied, seeing that he was really starting to get mad.
"Was I too kind today, Elizabeth? Is that why you're pushing your luck?"
"I'm telling you right now, that you only have two options. One, have a wedding with me, or two, find somebody else!"
The biggest reason why James agreed to marry Elizabeth, was to let the other woman know that she wasn't the only person he could marry. He could give his wife the fanciest wedding, the best living, and the most loving care. He was going to do everything that she had dreamed of. He had to prove to her with his actions that he was perfectly fine without her.
So what kind of nonsense was the woman in front of him talking about? No wedding? Ha! In her dreams!
Elizabeth was dumbfounded. "But I..."
He ignored her, stood up and walked to the door, then changed his shoes and went out.
"Bang!" The sound of the door slamming shut made Elizabeth flinch.
"What? Hey..."
She rushed forward, but James was faster. When she's reached the door, James had already started the car and slammed the gas pedal, leaving Elizabeth stomping around in his dust.
She grabbed her head in frustration... Did she piss him off again?
