She knew about his affair with Jeannette. She knew Lara was his daughter. She knew he'd been cheating on her for five years…
If she ever found out he'd taken away her child…
Eddy couldn't bear to finish the thought.
His wife would never forgive him.
He had to find her—bring her back, and then maybe, just maybe, he could coax her into staying.
The banquet hall erupted into chaos, and the livestream chat was even more frenzied.
"Mr. Simmons is using his billions to launch a global search—no, not a manhunt, he's searching the world for Mrs. Simmons!"
"Hold it right there!" A man and a woman suddenly burst into the ballroom.
The man barked, "Eddy, you can't do this."
Eddy recognized him instantly—his father, Jacob, who had vanished a decade ago.
"Jacob?" Margaret and several guests stared in disbelief. "Why can't Eddy do this?"
The woman, Serena, thrust a stack of documents into Eddy's hands, her tone dripping with mockery. "These are the papers showing Mrs. Simmons has donated all her shares to a charity foundation. And since we control that foundation now, we're the largest shareholders in The Simmons Group. Eddy, you're left with nothing."
"What?!"
Kelvin was as stunned as the rest, snatching the documents and flipping to the final page. When he saw the signature, his face paled. "Eddy, this really is Blanche's signature."
Eddy stared at Blanche's delicate handwriting, his heart twisting tighter.
She had given up everything, making a clean break.
"Blanche knew Jacob betrayed Loraine. Why would she do this? Is she trying to get back at you?"
"Cheated with your wife's sister, fathered a child out of wedlock… If your wife wants revenge, it's hardly a surprise. If you're going to mess around, at least don't get caught. You should've learned from me—but you picked a fool for a wife, and now you're paying for it." Jacob sneered, absolutely smug.
Suddenly, his vision went black as pain exploded across his cheek. He howled, "You—you bastard!"
"You've lost everything, and you still dare to hit me?"
Serena hurried to Jacob's side, full of concern. "Are you alright?"
Jacob nursed the side of his face, his voice venomous. "As the largest shareholder, I'm removing you from your position as CEO. You're suspended, effective immediately."
Eddy's eyes were icy, not a hint of fear. He stared Jacob down. "You're in no position to speak about my wife."
Seeing Eddy so unmoved by the loss of The Simmons Group, Jacob looked as if he'd punched a pillow—his anger had nowhere to land.
