Heather doubted the secret handbook’s authenticity the most because Alexander had not come looking for her even after such a long time. She had spent so much time and effort to steal the secret handbook. Logically, Alexander should go all out just to retrieve such a crucial lost item.

She put herself in Alexander’s shoes and concluded that she would search every corner of Kingsland if she had lost something so important to her.

However, Alexander was so calm, as if nothing had happened. Ralph said Alexander did not look for him at all, which meant he did not care about his lost handbook.

There was only one reason for Alexander’s indifference—the secret handbooks Heather and Ralph stole were fakes. If Alexander could set up a trap for Ralph, Heather believed he would also set one up for her.

“The real secret handbook is still with you guys.” Heather continued after she sucked in a deep breath and cleared her cluttered mind.

However, Lily just stared at her before she shook her head slowly.

That was out of Heather’s expectation, stunning her for a moment before she said in disbelief, “It’s not with you guys? That’s impossible! Where is it, then? You guys didn’t destroy it or ask someone else to keep it, did you?”

“No,” Lily replied faintly, “That book doesn’t exist at all.”

“Impossible!” Heather exclaimed. She would only believe this over her dead body and sneered again, “Why do you need to make up such a stupid reason to lie to me? I’m being frank today in our discussion, and I even told you about my twin sister’s existence. Plus, I was just asking about the secret handbook. It’s not like I’m going to ask you to give it to me. What are you so afraid of?”

“As for Alexander’s combat skills…”

Lily recalled when she asked Alexander about this because she did not expect him to be so skilled in kickboxing. He had never mentioned it before, either.

When the Lodge family was going through their crisis, he did not reveal his ability, too, so she was surprised to learn that he was even more skilled than she was.

Later, he told her, “When I was younger, my grandpa said he wanted me to learn some self-defense skills one day. I thought it was similar to what the other kids were learning, like basic boxing skills.

“However, he sent me to this church on a mountain one day, and I got a priest as my teacher. Besides teaching me some basic fighting skills, he would sometimes teach me some Bible proverbs. I did not understand everything completely back then, but my teacher said I was smart and understood things quickly.”
