His Reluctant Luna novel Chapter 97

Lucian

I saw the rogues getting beaten up through the glass panel. Jake my wolf was wildly enraged at them. As each body was unearthed, he had growled ferally and tugged at me to be let loose. All I wanted to do was, go into the holding cells and tear each rogue apart, disembowel, and mutilate their carcasses. That raid was the first of several raids. We saw worse things after that.

Only Alice's calming presence kept my bloodlust at bay. Inhaling her delicious scent steadied my beast. Although the desire to extract justice from the rogues was still there, it was not as all-consuming as it was before.

Things were settling down into some form of normalcy after the past many days of endless action brought on by the capture of the rogues. All the women rescued were still healing slowly from their injuries. Physically, they were on the mend, but the emotional scars would take time to heal. Sadly, two of the women passed away. Their injuries were too severe, and their organs shut down right after they arrived in the packed clinic. The youngest one came out of her coma just two days before and was still fragile.

After delving into their backgrounds, one thing all the captives had in common was that they were all alone, with no family or close friends to search for them, once they'd gone missing. These women kept to themselves and didn't socialize much. It made it easier for the rogues to snatch them, unknown to human authority.

"Alpha, Katherine, and Madam Luna were able to interview a few other women, they have the same story. He intended to raise his army of abominations using these hapless women as incubators." Damon reported.

Other Alphas had squeezed out similar information from their rescued women.

"Did those scoundrels talk ?" I asked further.

"Unfortunately, they know nothing! Most of them truly had no idea who they were following. Nobody could have sustained the amount of torture they have been given. It's still nothing compared to what those women went through." He spat.

"Hmm, anything from the other teams?"

"The doc tested them, more than half of the rogue army was newly turned humans who had no idea about the existence of werewolves. "

"Trace their funding. The money trail will lead to something." I said and turned to leave.

"One more thing, Alpha! " Damon interrupted.

"What do we do with them?" He pointed at the rogues.

"Did you find out their identities?"

"Yeah, Roger managed to dig out every bit of information about them. All of them have a criminal history. Varying from petty to hardened criminals."

"Then the decision is pretty simple. Kill them." I commanded.

"On it, Alpha. Can we make it painful?"

I chuckled. "Go ahead, they are all yours."

I could see Damon looked pleased. The rest of my day was full of conference calls with other Alphas. I was toying with my pen as Rick's beta droned on about the pretty much same things which we had discovered.

"We are going around in circles, with no breakthrough." I lamented in frustration.

"Alpha, we just found out something." Peter dashed into the conference room.

I nodded at him, to proceed.

"I am coming to that... The boy was called Jasper Stuart Fallbrook, and he graduated from Princeton, majoring in biotechnology. He worked as a scientist for a top stem cell research lab for a few years before being thrown out for unethical experiments."

A stunned silence dissipated in the call as each one of us processed the information.

"How did you find out all this?" Someone asked.

"Well, I dug up a few things from here and there, then connected the dots. This is not the end. After 5 years of Stuart's disappearance, Alpha Diego's daughter was found dead and mutilated in the forest. They never found out who did it. Which also kind of ascertained the fact that he wasn't her mate, he would have never hurt her."

"But this Fallbrook being our man is speculation. For all, we know it could be an unfortunate coincidence." Alpha Michelson said.

"Do you mean all my efforts were in vain?" Daniel asked, looking pissed.

" No Daniel. Your information is valuable, and I have a hunch that we would find the identity of this psycho soon. I want all teams to focus on Jordan. Meanwhile, Daniel, you dig out more on this Fallbrook. Does he have any living relative?"

"No, all dead," Daniel replied.

The meeting was over, and I leaned back in my chair and rubbed my forehead. This was one of the best meetings we ever had. Finally, things were looking optimistic. The danger was far from over. I checked the clock. It read 2 am.

I still needed to check on the security. It had been elevated. Although the rogues' number was greatly diminished, I was not going to take any chance in the security of the pack.

I searched through my mental link for Alice. She was sleeping, but her wolf was awake. The wolf beckoned me to return, and suddenly, my beast had taken over. I had no choice but to comply.
