Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 76

Shannon had previously reached out to Hector to get the address for the driver, so it didn't surprise her that he had shown up.

Scott, however, was clueless about this. When he spotted Hector, he reacted like a startled rabbit and darted behind Shannon for cover.

"I swear it's not my fault this time!" he blurted out, grasping at Shannon's sleeve. "Shannon, can you please explain to Hector?"

Hector observed Scott's jittery behavior with a raised eyebrow, but then Shannon stepped in and provided an explanation.

"Yeah, it's not his fault," she confirmed.

Hector wondered about the potential culprit.

His gaze then fell on Cecily, who lay on the ground nearby.

So, was she the one responsible for this mess, then?

However, as he looked at the seven people sprawled on the ground, he found himself unable to press the issue any further.

As long as everyone was okay.

Soon, the ambulance arrived and took the seven people on the rooftop, along with Summer downstairs, to the hospital.

Upon hearing about Cecily's mishap, Hank and Caleb wasted no time in rushing over. After hearing the details of what went down and seeing Cecily unconscious while Scott emerged unscathed, they unleashed a flurry of questions.

"What's wrong with you? How could you let something happen to Cecily when you were supposed to be with her?

"Cecily has always been so good to you. If you had any conscience at all, you wouldn't have let her get hurt. Wait until Grandma returns and sees how you explain this to her."

Scott had been itching to regale his cousins with the thrilling events of his day, but he was blindsided by their accusations. His face flushed crimson with anger and frustration.

"What do you know?" Scott's voice cracked with frustration as he spat out those words.

"How can you be so sure I didn't protect her?" His tone was sharp, filled with righteous indignation.

"Why don't you just ask her what really went down at that moment?"

Still clinging to the tumultuous emotions of youth, Scott felt a boiling mix of anger and injustice, but words failed him. With a defiant toss of his head, he stormed off.

Seizing the opportunity, he grabbed the cocooned Summer and fled.

In the heat of the moment, there was no time to dwell. But now, as Scott recollected the events, he swiftly kicked off his shoes for inspection.

To his astonishment, he found a layer of blackened ash on the insoles. Delving deeper, he unearthed a small piece of yellow paper tucked away in the corner.

The instant Scott caught sight of that yellow paper, it triggered a subconscious association with the talisman Shannon had used. Suddenly, everything clicked, and his eyes swelled with even more tears.

It dawned on him that Shannon had saved him right from the start.

She had warned him, yet he had stubbornly ignored her advice, opting to follow Cecily outside.

Despite his defiance, Shannon wasn't upset. Instead, she had covertly slipped a talisman into his shoe to shield him from harm.

Realizing this, Scott couldn't help but cry even harder.

However, it wasn't out of anger this time, but out of overwhelming gratitude and regret.
