Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 70

With that commanding shout, Shannon flung a thunder talisman from her hand.

In the next instant, three fiery bolts of lightning crashed down from the sky, instantly reducing the cocoon-like silk threads wrapped in darkness to charred ashes.

The threads entwining around Scott's neck and ankles had also disintegrated into ash.

Scott went limp, collapsing to the ground with the giant egg still strapped to his back. He turned his head and saw Shannon.

Tears welled up in his eyes as he began to sob, "Shannon... Shannon! Shannon! I'm so sorry, Shannon!"

But Shannon quickly stepped up and delivered a firm slap to his head. "Quit blubbering! Grab your egg and follow me."

She had only driven away the silk threads for now. Thus, this place wasn't safe.

As for the cocoon on Scott's back, judging by how fiercely he protected it earlier, Shannon knew without a doubt that Cecily was inside.

Scott, who was used to getting scolded by Adrian, felt a strange sense of familiarity from Shannon's slap. He immediately stopped crying, nodded, and quickly hoisted the human-sized cocoon back onto his shoulders.

Shannon rushed Scott downstairs. With a flick of her hand, she pulled out a talisman. In her fingers, it was as sharp and resilient as a blade.

Scott watched as she effortlessly sliced through the cocoon. The egg he had just placed on the ground split into two halves, and a girl tumbled out.

Scott quickly moved to catch her.

Shannon stared at the unfamiliar girl, momentarily stunned. "Who's this? Where's Cecily?"

"She's Summer... Cecily... is still upstairs," Scott said, his voice momentarily stiff when he mentioned Cecily.

Shannon didn't catch the change in tone but frowned upon hearing that Cecily was still upstairs.

"Why on earth did you three pick a place like this to meet up?" Shannon was utterly baffled.

Who in their right mind would choose an abandoned school for a regular meetup with online friends?

"I'm coming with you. I know where they are."

Shannon didn't refuse his offer but asked, "Aren't you afraid we might run into that thing again?"

"You came to save me. I owe you that much," Scott replied.

He knew he owed Shannon his life. He couldn't just abandon her. They were the Jensens, and they would never run from responsibility.

Besides, with so many people and eggs involved, how could she handle it alone?

Shannon hesitated for only a moment before nodding in agreement. The next second, she retrieved an emerald pendant from her bag and handed it to him.

"This is a protective emerald pendant. Wear it. If things go south, just run."

Scott's eyes lit up at the sight of the familiar pendant. Without hesitation, he removed the silver chain from around his neck, discarded the original pendant, and replaced it with the emerald one.
