Hector and Adam hadn't been home that day. When they returned at night, they heard about how Connor came by to cause "trouble" for Shannon.
Adam then told Thomas, "Don't let anyone from the Gray family into our house."
He was then about to check on Shannon. He was worried that Shannon would be bullied by the Gray family again.
But before he was about to go upstairs, he saw Shannon carrying a little fox as she walked downstairs. Surprisingly, someone was following behind her.
Scott walked behind her grumpily as he questioned, "What happened to my arm just now? Did you do something to me? Shannon Jensen, you better fess up!
"If it weren't for me, you would've been bullied by that Gray guy. Weren't you good at arguing with us? Why were you quiet in front of him? You were embarrassing us!"
Seeing how Scott was pestering Shannon, Adam instantly frowned. He thought that Scott was causing trouble for her again. But before he could speak, Hector stopped him.
Adam paused. But Hector was merely watching them with interest.
Scott didn't notice the two of them downstairs. It wasn't until Shannon stopped walking and prompted him to turn around that he realized their presence. A hint of guilt flashed across his face.
But he quickly regained his composure and greeted them obediently, "Uncle Adam, Hector, you're back."
"Yeah. What were you talking about?" Adam asked with a solemn voice.
Just as Shannon was about to speak, Scott quickly answered, lest she complain about him again.
"Uncle Adam, we were talking about that adoptive son from the Gray family. You have no idea how he tried to pressure us by bringing up his identity as Shannon's brother and how the Grays were kind enough to raise her.
"I reprimanded him and kicked him out."
Hector raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you're not bad, then."
Hearing Hector's compliment, Scott immediately puffed up his chest proudly. "Of course! I'm a Jensen, after all. How dare he bully someone at the Jensen residence? Who does he think he is?"
When Shannon noticed how the red string contrasted with Hector's noble demeanor, her eyes flickered a little. They seemed to have lit up. But her face remained unchanged.
Scott didn't expect that he would fail at driving a wedge between her and the family. Glaring at the pendant, he even felt a little jealous.
He ogled at Adam. "Uncle Adam, do you have one, too?"
Adam pursed his lips and glanced at the pendant on Hector's neck. He looked back at Shannon with a grave voice. "I don't."
But Shannon was surprised. "You do. I gave you one."
Adam was taken aback. A hint of joy flashed in his eyes, but he quickly frowned again. "I didn't receive one."
"Yeah, your pendant is with me," Hector answered nonchalantly. "Shannon asked me to give it to you, but I didn't."
