Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 52

The Shaw family rarely saw such a solemn look on Shannon's face. They couldn't help but feel nervous. They thought that there might be some other risks in this matter.

But Shannon said, "The one who took Emily's wisdom away was a woman who worked at the Jensen residence as a housekeeper. Back then, she helped an evil master by coincidence.

"As a reward, the evil master offered to help swap her dimwitted son's intelligence with someone else. And so, she set her target on Emily, who came to visit the Jensens."

That was what Carla confessed later on. Shannon didn't want to hide things from the Shaws.

When they heard about the truth, the Shaws had complex expressions on their faces.

It would be a lie to say that they didn't harbor resentment toward the Jensen family.

After all, Carla was a housekeeper hired by the Jensens. Who would have expected that a housekeeper could have such evil intentions?

Emily just happened to visit their house. Yet, she ended up being Carla's target and lived like a mindless child for eight years.

Meanwhile, they had never known that for all these years. They only thought that Emily's brain was compromised when she fell off a horse.

They resented the Jensen family for having poor judgment in people. But it was Shannon, a member of the Jensen family, who realized the issue as well. She even offered to help them.

Donald took a deep breath. After a while, he finally sighed and said, "We'll… let this go if Emily can recover fully."

Both families shared a close relationship, after all. If they turned hostile to each other because of this, things would be hard for Shannon—who got caught in the middle—too.

They only wanted Emily to recover now.

Seeing how forgiving the Shaw family was, Shannon actually developed a fondness for them. Smiling, she said, "Don't worry. She will recover."

As Shannon spoke, she went upstairs. She took a few strands of Emily's hair and set up a small reincarnation array under the midday sun.

Last time, she had impressed everyone by sending a few flying talismans with a wave of her hand. But her array appeared plain and unadorned this time.

Their hearts sank.

Why was she the same as before?

Panicked, Helen gazed at Shannon. "Ms. Jensen, did the spell not work? Why does Emily look like she hasn't recovered?"

Facing the Shaw family's question, Shannon was calm and composed.

"She has recovered."

Frowning, Donald glanced at Emily, who still looked as innocent as ever. She didn't seem to have recovered at all.

Knowing how confused the Shaw family was, Shannon explained, "Her wisdom was swapped when she was eight. Swapping her wisdom back wouldn't automatically grant her the intelligence of a 16-year-old overnight. But from now on, she'll slowly grow like a normal child."

But she might be eight years behind her peers in terms of mental development.
