Sheila turned ashen when she realized what it was. Her face had lost its earlier elegance and beauty. Now, her expression had become twisted from the fear and horror. Her sudden change made chills run down the livestream viewers' spines.
There it was again—the look on Sheila's face was exactly like Soren's had been before the livestream had been cut off yesterday when the spirits of the five young women had tried to strangle him.
The crew, cast, Rachel, and Connor were frightened by this change. This was especially so for Connor. He himself had experienced what it was like to have a hand clamped over his mouth, and he immediately thought of a way to resolve the issue.
"The emerald pendant! Rachel, give Mom the emerald pendant!" he cried. After all, the ghost had been scared off by Francis' emerald pendant in the past.
Sheila seemed to remember the existence of the emerald pendant at Connor's words. She turned to look at Rachel, her gaze expectant and urgent. They weren't far from each other, so she reached out to Rachel.
To her surprise and dismay, Rachel's first reaction to her outstretched hand wasn't to hand over the emerald pendant to save her. Instead, Rachel subconsciously wheeled herself back to dodge Sheila.
Sheila was taken aback. The asphyxiation that came with the grip on her neck tightening and the pain in her chest mingled. She stared at Rachel in disbelief—this was the daughter she loved and doted on with all her heart.
Rachel seemed to realized that her instinctive reaction was too heartless and cruel, especially with the cameras rolling. She gnashed her teeth, seemingly returning to her senses as she reached for the emerald pendant around her neck.
However, Vincent had already thrown his life-saving satchel in Sheila's direction before she could do anything. He couldn't see what was beside her, but since Juniper had mentioned yesterday that the talisman in the satchel was a rare shielding talisman, he figured it would help somehow.
Even if Sheila seemed harsh and shrew-like, his upbringing wouldn't allow him to stand by and watch as someone was being harmed.
"I… I'm fine," Sheila said hoarsely. She didn't say anything else. In the past, she would've consoled Rachel, worried that she would've scared the latter with her condition. Now, however, she wasn't in the mood.
Rachel sensed the minute change in Sheila's attitude, and she gripped the armrests of her wheelchair tightly. She gnashed her teeth, feeling angry at herself.
The production crew didn't expect that they would encounter the real deal while filming an audience member's request for help. They were scared, but they were also worried the program would be banned for spreading superstitions.
Fortunately, everything seemed to proceed as normal. Nobody received any warnings from the authorities, and they relaxed.
Still, it was evident that the matter had yet to be settled.
