If not for the fact that Shannon had taken a closer look, she would've missed it. Still, this indirectly proved that Calvin had saved many lives.
She was always more forgiving when it came to people like him. So, instead of getting mad at him for tugging her wrist, she gave him some advice. "You have a broad forehead and a straight nose, Officer Faust. You also exude righteousness.
"You're in for good things in life. If you ever feel like things aren't going your way recently, remember to take a right turn."
Calvin was lost for words. He had yet to lecture Shannon for being superstitious, and there she was, reading his fortune. Honestly, he couldn't understand youngsters' hobbies nowadays.
"Thank you for the advice, but you're still going to have to come back to the station with me to make a statement," he said. He had to continue investigating the matter with the wealth-generating stake ritual so Shannon could make a statement on that, along with Soren's case.
Shannon pursed her lips. She wasn't against going to the police station, but having her statement taken was quite time-consuming. Still, as a responsible citizen, she couldn't shirk her duties. She was about to nod in agreement when she heard Calvin's phone ring.
He signaled for her to wait and stepped aside to answer the call. "Calvin Faust on the line."
It seemed his superior was on the other end of the line. His expression became a bit more serious, and he even stood with his back straighter.
There was no finding out what was said over the phone, but Calvin frowned slightly, his expression a little confused. He even glanced in Shannon's direction. Shortly after, he hung up and walked back to Shannon.
His gaze was a little odd as he looked at her. "Someone's spoken to my superior, so you don't need to have your statement taken for the time being."
Carlos immediately shot to his feet at that. Now that he knew the dark secrets behind the mansion and had seen the corpse beneath it, he couldn't help feeling jittery, even if he had nothing to fear.
Soon, he was once again overwhelmed by the despair of having "Sixth Sense" axed before it even took off. He sighed. "It looks like we really shouldn't mess with the mystic arts."
Fred sighed as well. He wanted to comfort Carlos but couldn't think of anything to say. His phone rang as he lamented the end of the program's lifespan.
He answered it, and whatever the person on the other end of the line said made his desolate expression turn to joy. By the time he hung up, he looked positively excited.
He grabbed Carlos by the shoulders and shook the latter vigorously. He exclaimed, "'Sixth Sense' isn't dead, Carlos! One of the higher-ups gave the order, and we're back in business!"
