Fred's eyes glinted when Shannon stepped forward. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at the police officers. Then, he slowly moved back to a cameraman who still had the camera on his shoulder. He gave the latter a look.
At first, the cameraman didn't understand what he wanted. Then, when he saw Fred's eyes almost seizing up, he snapped to his senses and secretly turned on the camera when no one was paying attention to him.
The livestream had ended, and the production crew was likely to be shut down from this. But before that happened, they had to ensure they recorded everything they needed. So, Fred and the cameraman set the camera up and aimed it at Shannon.
Shannon looked at Doris, her gaze dark. "You said the mansion's design was changed into a tomb because of the child's unexpected death. In truth, the child was already dead when the cement was being laid for the foundation. The mansion was always designed to be a tomb that could trap the child's soul within it!"
Her words angered Doris. "Stop your nonsense, you brat! What do you know? This is a child of the Sullivan family, and you'll have to pay for making people desecrate his grave!"
Shannon was unfazed by her accusations. "Someone's definitely going to have to pay for this, but it won't be me. The Sullivan family is the one to blame for this, and that includes you."
"Why, you—"
"Don't be in such a hurry to deny the truth. If everything really is as you said, why have you stayed near this mansion all these years? Why have you been keeping watch?" Shannon asked.
The production crew and guests—especially Vincent—were shocked to hear Doris was there to watch over the mansion.
Juniper seemed to take a deep breath before answering, "A wealth-generating stake ritual is a dark arts technique similar to a live stake-driving ritual. A live stake-driving ritual is generally held to ask for peace, harmony, and blessings for future generations.
"But a wealth-generating stake ritual is purely to generate wealth for a person or family. It's to ensure that the family's future generations continue to prosper and remain wealthy."
He paused, then continued hoarsely, "The difference between this ritual and a live stake-driving one is that the 'stake' used for generating the wealth has to be the flesh and blood of the person placing the stake…"
Everyone gasped at Juniper's explanation. Using humans as live sacrifices was already outrageous enough, let alone sacrificing one's flesh and blood.
