When the admissions officers from the three universities saw how serious Shannon was, they were in bitter distress.
"Ms. Gray, the college you choose will determine your future. Please choose carefully!"
The officer from Liberty University had an exasperated expression on his face. Their universities were outstanding institutions, but Shannon didn't choose any of them. She had picked a weird school instead!
Even any regular college would be better than that!
The officer from Jamborough University knew that his institution had partnerships with the Jamborough School of Mystic Arts as well. So, unlike the others, he didn't have any prejudice against mystic schools.
On the contrary, he somewhat knew the significance of the only three mystic schools in the whole country.
That wasn't a place any normal person could get in.
"Ms. Gray, does this mean that you're interested in religion and similar beliefs? Actually, we at Jamborough University have several elective courses focused on religion…"
The officer from Seastone University refused to back down. "We may not have electives like that, but we can start one right now!"
The Jensens didn't approve of the decision, either. They tried to convince Shannon to change her mind.
"Shannon, you have to consider this carefully. You mustn't make any rash decisions."
"You won't have a bright future if you enter that mystic school."
"Or, you don't have to be in such a hurry to make a decision today. I'm sure the officers will give you time to consider."
"Yes, exactly."
The crowd chattered on, and even Hank couldn't help but clench his fists as he prepared to give some advice.
Shannon was a top scorer, but she chose to enter a nameless school instead. This was an insult to all the candidates who lost to her!
Especially him!
Faced with all the coaxing, Shannon remained unswayed. Her gaze was clear and determined as she said, "I've already made my choice."
With that, she looked at George and Adam, the two authorities in the Jensen family. She said earnestly, "I hope that you'll respect my decision."
After a pause, she added, "Even if you don't, that's fine."
Either way, she wouldn't change her mind.
George was exasperated. He had obviously realized what Shannon meant.
How did they ultimately lose?
But no matter what they thought of it, they couldn't change reality.
Even though the officers failed to get Shannon enrolled, George gave them a monetary gift each before they left. It was a way of saying thanks to them for taking the time to come and tell the good news.
Adam and Shannon saw the admissions officers off.
When they were leaving, Shannon called out to Isaac Davis, the officer from the mystic school. "Mr. Davis, is there a lecturer in the school called Thalia Wynthorpe?"
Having recruited a student, Isaac was in a good mood. He was smiling at that moment, but when he heard the question, he was a little puzzled.
"Not to my knowledge. I would've remembered a unique name like that if I'd come across it before. Why? Do you know her?"
"She's my mentor." Shannon didn't intend to hide it from Isaac.
Isaac wasn't surprised at all. Many students had learned from their mentors before enrolling in the school, so it wasn't a strange occurrence there.
"I'll help you ask around when I get back. If that person really was here, I'm sure we can find her in the school."
