The young man said, "This is a new collaboration project our boss started with the underworld, and it's having its first test run today."
Shannon understood what was going on right away. She was curious about the connections possessed by the boss of Supernatural Delivery, but she didn't ask about it.
She handed the infant spirit in her hand to the young man.
The young man took out a set of mini weighing scales. Then, he took the infant spirit and placed it on the tray.
The scales indicated that the infant spirit was 0.32 ounces.
The young man seemed to frown a little. "This spirit doesn't meet the minimum weight requirements."
With that, he picked up the infant spirit and studied it. Then, he said in a cold voice, "This is a half-spirit that has yet to take shape. The underworld cannot accept it for now."
Shannon wasn't surprised about that. She obviously knew that already.
"It is indeed an infant spirit that hasn't taken shape yet. It grew on grudges, but now, all the grudges are cleared. If you let it grow in the underworld, it will have taken shape. Just take it back for now, and it'll make it in time to go to the realm of eternal life in a few years…"
When the young man heard that, he declined mercilessly.
"That won't do. The underworld is currently overloaded. In our boss' partnership contract with the underworld, there's a statement that any spirits that cannot be sent off should not be brought into the underworld!"
With that, the young man plopped the infant spirit onto Shannon's palm.
"Sorry, but this is a failed delivery."
With that, he turned around to leave.
Shannon was at a loss for a moment. "Hey, wait! Can't you make an exception? I can pay extra!"
The young man was adamant.
"Sorry."
With that, he turned around and left without hesitation.
Shannon stared as the young man quickly disappeared into the darkness. She was a little upset.
The underworld messengers before this were definitely more understanding.
Usually, even if the spirits were slightly flawed, they could be sent away if she paid extra.
But what about now?
Ever since she got involved in this field, she had met many people who kept spirits, but she always felt that this particular technique wasn't proper enough. She was also studying the talismanic arts, so it was a completely different department.
That was what she thought, but since the underworld messengers refused to take the spirit in, she had no other choice for now.
She looked a little sullen as she put the infant spirit back in her pocket, denying the spirit's intention to keep sticking to the golden light.
Benjamin had a dark look in his eyes as he watched her movements. When she was turning around, he suddenly called out to her.
"Remember that mark on my palm you mentioned before? What was that about?"
Shannon was stunned to hear him mentioning the mark out of nowhere. Still, she explained earnestly, "It's a protective mark. Why?"
"Nothing."
Benjamin's voice sounded cold as if he hadn't meant anything by that.
Shannon didn't notice any unusual reactions from him, so she didn't say anything more as she quickly went back to the Jensen residence.
Benjamin watched her leave in a hurry. He had a dark look in his eyes which eventually turned into a cold smile.
She was lying again.
