Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 119

Rachel looked like she had grasped at a lifeline. Her eyes lit up as she cried, "Shannon accepted 500 thousand dollars from us, didn't she? She worked with Rachelle to lay a trap for me before scamming us out of 500 thousand dollars and Grandma's bangle. I can sue her for fraud!"

Sheila perked up at her words, but soon, her expression turned a little hesitant. "Won't it be a little hard to sue her if a transaction record is all we have?"

Besides, Jensen Corporation's legal team wasn't to be trifled with. Sheila may have been rather obnoxious, but she did still have some brains.

Rachel didn't care about that, though. All she wanted was to see Shannon down on her luck. She snarled, "I don't care; I want to sue her! Our family raised her for 18 years, but look at what she's done to me! What right does she have to treat me like this? Sue her for me, Mom. I have to sue her!"

Seeing that Rachel was getting agitated again, Sheila had no choice but to placate her. "Alright, alright. I'll help you sue her. Please calm down, Rachel. It's bad for your health if you keep getting agitated."

Rachel grabbed Sheila's hand and started crying pitifully after hearing what she wanted to hear. "Mom, why won't she let me off the hook? Why won't they let me off the hook? I feel horrible… so horrible…"

She had acted hysterically earlier to make Sheila give in and agree to help her. Now that she was putting on a pitiful act, Sheila threw all her rationality away. Her heart ached for Rachel, and she was furious at Shannon.

"Don't cry, Rachel. I won't let that ingrate off the hook! She can't get away with bullying my daughter!"

Sheila let Rachel go and stormed out of the hospital room. Rachel watched her leave, her eyes red from her tears. Then, she smiled smugly.

Connor didn't know whether this was as Shannon had said—that his dreams were a result of being too close to Rachel and her misfortune. He'd thought about getting back the emerald pendant from Rachel, but Sheila had told him off.

Left with no choice, he could only hire another geomancy master to check on things at home. Once the ghost was exorcized, at least he wouldn't have nightmares anymore.

"How is it, Mr. Sanders?" Connor strongly believed in the mystic arts because of Rachel's astrological house. The geomancy master before him, Jim Sanders, was one he'd paid a fortune to hire.

He watched as Jim circled the manor and then his room. Jim nodded and said, "There's indeed something sinister in your room."
