In the afternoon, Agnes made a special trip to the supermarket to buy some fresh ingredients.
Mamie, in her pajamas, opened the door for Agnes, yawning and asking, "What brings you here?"
She looked outside the door and asked, "Did you come alone? Where's Jared?"
At the mention of Jared, Agnes' expression changed slightly.
Mamie and Ivan didn't know about Agnes and Jared yet.
"I came by myself." replied Agnes.
"Well, come in then." said Mamie.
Mamie looked very tired.
Agnes knew from the news that she had just returned from a film festival and her exhausted state was understandable.
On TV, Mamie was always a flawless, aloof goddess radiating a powerful aura.
But at this moment, what Agnes saw was a woman in cartoon pajamas, with messy hair and a dazed look in her eyes.
This was a far cry from her public image.
However, Agnes preferred the real-life Mamie.
Mamie looked extremely tired, she waved her hand and said, "I won't entertain you, make yourself at home. I didn't sleep last night, so I need to catch some z's now."
Agnes puzzledly asked, "Didn't the news say you got off the plane at seven last night? How come you didn't sleep all night?"
Mamie coughed, "Jet lag doesn't just go away that fast."
"But the country you went to isn't far from us."
"Agnes, are you trying to get me to say that Ivan kept me up all night?" Mamie blushed angrily.
Agnes laughed heartily, coaxing like a child, "Go sleep now, make the most of your time. Ivan will be back in four hours, then even if you want to sleep, you won't be able to."
Mamie muttered a few words, then went upstairs.
Having teased Mamie, Agnes was in a good mood.
Mamie thought for a while and said, "I can only wash vegetables."
Agnes was speechless.
It seemed Mamie was no help there.
Agnes personally cooked a few home-cooked dishes.
Mamie was in the kitchen, as Agnes was cooking, she was sneaking tastes.
By the time the dishes were served, quite a bit was missing.
Agnes couldn't help but say, "Mamie, where's your image? If your fans knew you were like a food-stealing rodent, what would they think?"
Mamie looked a bit wronged, "I'm hungry. I had to attend the film festival and in order to look good, I ate boiled vegetables for three days, three whole days, it was terrible, I feel like I will die of hunger the next second."
Mamie is actually a beauty, her pouting and pitiful look made it impossible not to feel sorry for her.
Agnes immediately showed concern, "Eat more then. If it's not enough, I can cook a few more dishes."
