Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1328

Jared looked up from the stove, calling out, "Now that you're up, why don't you come and have some breakfast?"

Agnes wandered over, eyes widening at the spread on the table. "Did you make all this?"

Jared gave her a casual glance. "What's so surprising? It's always been like this, hasn't it?"

Always like this?

A man making breakfast?

Agnes found it hard to picture.

She offered, "Should I go wake up Nocturne?"

Jared shook his head. "No need. He sleeps more than most kids, and it's the weekend. Let him rest a bit longer."

Agnes nodded, taking a seat. She'd shared meals with Jared before, but this felt different. The atmosphere was unique, especially seeing him in his casual clothes. It gave her a strange sense of domesticity, as if they were just a normal family.

She focused on the bowl in front of her, taking a spoonful of the creamy chicken porridge. The flavors were rich, the texture smooth, and the chicken tender. It was, without a doubt, the best she'd ever tasted.

"This porridge is amazing," Agnes exclaimed, unable to hold back her praise.

Agnes figured the connection was probably because of the child. Perhaps she had decided to form a family with Jared for the child's sake. But during that time, she also had an affair with Elton...

Her thoughts felt jumbled. But one thing became clear: she didn't love Jared. She didn't want to maintain this marriage any longer, nor did she want to hurt him.

Jared set down his fork, meeting her gaze seriously. "TV dramas are just that—dramas. They're fiction. Our life is real, and it's ours. Don't compare it to what's on TV; it's nothing like that."

"But we didn't get together because of love, did we?" Agnes challenged gently.

Jared leaned forward, expression intense. "Why can't it be because of love?"
