Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1319

Agnes's eyes widened in surprise. "Already? Is it a boy or a girl?"

"You've got yourself a little brother now, Nocturne," Ivan announced with a wide grin.

Agnes felt a genuine surge of happiness. "Ivan, congratulations! Can I see him?"

Even though parts of her memory were foggy, Agnes had grown fond of Ivan and Mamie, considering them friends.

"Sure, come with me," Ivan replied, leading Agnes to Mamie's room.

The maternity suite resembled a luxury hotel more than a hospital room, complete with personal nurses and all the bells and whistles one could imagine.

As Agnes entered, she was startled to see Jared. It seemed like ever since she'd met him, he was everywhere she turned. She hesitated for a moment at the door but eventually mustered the courage to step inside.

Jared was cradling the newborn, a sight that seemed to bring a rare softness to his usually stoic demeanor.

Mamie teased, "Look at you, Jared. Anyone would think you're the father!"

Jared smirked, "Don't say that too loud, or Ivan might just have me for lunch."

Ivan, entering the room, chuckled. "Too late, I already heard."

Jared turned, catching sight of Ivan and then Agnes standing by the door. His face betrayed nothing, just a brief glance in her direction.

Mamie, however, beamed at Agnes. "Hey, Agnes! Come meet your godson."

Agnes blinked, taken aback. "Godson?"

Mamie laughed, "Remember? We joked if it was a girl, she'd marry your Nocturne. If it was a boy, he'd be your godson."

Jared, holding the baby, gently transferred him into Agnes's arms.

Agnes was delighted, her movements natural and fluid, as if she had done this countless times before. Yet, in her recollection, she hadn't. A pang of sadness washed over her; perhaps her body remembered what her mind did not—holding her own child once upon a time.

The baby, nestled comfortably, remained asleep, only stirring slightly and making a tiny, contented noise before settling back into slumber.

Agnes was mesmerized. Such a tiny being, so delicate and fragile, yet so full of life.

Initially, she stood still, afraid to disturb the peaceful little bundle. Mamie encouraged her, "Relax, it's okay."

Gradually, Agnes gained confidence, and soon she was gently swaying, cradling the baby around the room.

Meanwhile, Ivan motioned for Jared to step out with him, leaving Agnes to her newfound joy.
