Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1291

Back then, Agnes was utterly shocked.

And now, it felt almost exactly the same.

Agnes felt like her heart was being squeezed tight.

She couldn't breathe.

Agnes was heartbroken.

Seeing this man cry gave her an overwhelming sense of suffocation.

Why was she feeling this way?

The man had already looked up.

Tears streaming down his face, he suddenly smiled.

He moved closer again, taking Agnes's hand: "I knew you were alive, I knew you'd come back to find me, Agnes, you're finally back. Thank you, thank you for still being here."

Jared suddenly leaned in and cupped Agnes's face, kissing her.

Agnes was completely taken aback.

What on earth was happening?!

But!

No matter what was happening, she was furious!

This was her first kiss, for crying out loud!!

Though thinking about it, Agnes felt something was off.

Her memories were stuck at eighteen.

At eighteen, her first kiss was still untouched.

Back then, she was still pretty innocent.

Even though she and Elton had an unspoken understanding.

Agnes always thought the most beautiful things should be saved for their wedding day.

Elton had tried to kiss her a few times, but Agnes had always turned him down.

When Elton found out Agnes's thoughts, he just dreamed of the day they could marry legally.

But because of her reaction.

Why was Agnes reacting like this, what on earth was going on?

And her eyes, why did they look so unfamiliar, so wary?

Why was she looking at him as if he was a stranger?

Jared said, "Agnes, don't you recognize me? It's Jared. What's going on with you? Where have you been this past month? How did you get back? Please, tell me what happened?"

A thousand questions swirled in Jared's mind.

Even someone as smart as him couldn't make sense of it all.

Agnes retreated further until her back hit the wardrobe behind her.

She wiped her lips with the back of her hand, her voice a mix of anger and embarrassment: "Who do you think you are? I might have trespassed, but you could just call the cops. Why resort to... to something so humiliating?"

Jared's eyes gradually narrowed.

His gaze on Agnes grew more complex, like a stormy sky, dark clouds gathering, the winds beginning to howl.

Jared stepped forward, grabbing her hands: "Agnes, you really don't recognize me? It's Jared. What's happening to you? Please, don't joke around. I can't handle it. Please, just stop."
