Elton whisked Agnes away as quickly as he could.
Agnes remained in a coma for three days.
The doctor said it was a miracle she was still alive given the situation.
During those three days, she was at death's door multiple times.
With a relentless fever, Elton didn't dare leave her side, not even for a moment.
All his thoughts and energy were focused solely on Agnes.
He neglected everything else during those days.
And to make matters worse, he had lost his phone on the boat, leaving him cut off from the world.
Even reaching Nate was a no-go.
But, thank heavens, Agnes finally woke up.
Only then did Elton find the bandwidth to deal with other matters.
But as luck would have it, Agnes had amnesia.
Elton took a deep drag from his cigarette, pondering his next move.
Agnes had forgotten everything, even Jared.
Was this a divine opportunity handed to him on a silver platter?
A wild idea sprouted in Elton's mind.
He knew he was being irrational.
Such a move would hurt many people; it was incredibly selfish, despicable, and downright shameless.
But once the thought took root, it grew like wildfire, becoming impossible to ignore.
Elton began to tremble, his darkest desires swelling within him.
He finally made up his mind.
"Elton," she called softly.
He jumped up immediately, "Agnes, you're awake! You haven't eaten in days. You must be starving. Let's get you some soup."
Elton gently helped Agnes sit up, bringing over a small table to place on the bed.
The nurse soon brought in a steaming bowl of chicken soup.
Agnes was indeed famished, her stomach felt both empty and burning.
She took a sip of the soup, its savory warmth soothing her insides, making her feel alive again.
After a few more sips, her senses began to clear.
The surroundings seemed unfamiliar, not like home at all.
The doctors and nurses didn’t look like they were from her hometown, and the hospital's setup was unlike anything she knew.
"Elton, where am I? What happened to me? And where's Beatrice?" Agnes asked, bewildered.
