A burly guy in sunglasses said, "Our boss wants this lady to come with us."
Elton stepped forward, "I'll go with you, there's no need to drag her into this. She's just an innocent woman."
But the men didn't seem to care about Elton's words. "Shut it. The boss only wants her. Keep talking, and we'll put a bullet in you."
With that, one of the men grabbed Agnes by the arm.
Elton tried to fight them off, but as he turned to Agnes, he shouted, "Agnes, run!"
Agnes didn't run. She couldn't even if she wanted to.
These men were not just any group of thugs; they were like those elite special forces you see in movies.
Reggie had once told her about Sean's brutal training regimen. These guys, any one of them, could take on ten men without breaking a sweat.
Sure enough, in no time, Elton was overpowered, pinned to the deck, and handcuffed to the ship's metal rail.
Agnes spoke calmly, "Don't hurt him. I'll go with you."
"Agnes, you can't handle this alone," Elton's voice was tinged with fear.
He knew what kind of people they were dealing with, and he knew the kind of person Agnes was—fearless and stubborn.
Any wrong move could lead to a deadly situation, and that terrified Elton.
But Agnes was never one to shy away once something was set in motion.
What will be, will be.
Kearney's eyes were calm, and this was something Agnes always found inscrutable about him. Even when faced with life or death, he seemed indifferent to his fate.
Agnes approached.
Phenix saw her coming and her eyes widened in disbelief. "Septima, why are you here? This place is too dangerous. You need to leave, now!"
Agnes reached Phenix and smiled, "Phenix, even if I wanted to leave, how could I escape with so many mercenaries surrounding us?"
Phenix was momentarily speechless.
Then Samuel spoke up, "I know you two. Sean showed me your pictures. You're his Septima, and that's his younger brother. Don't worry, I don't know why you're here, but I know Sean's death wasn't your doing. You even helped uncover the truth. I promise, once this is over, you and your friend will leave safely, as long as you don't complicate things for me."
Agnes replied, "If you truly valued your brotherhood with my big brother, you wouldn't resort to this. Kearney might deserve whatever's coming to him, but the biggest victim here is Phenix. She's the woman my brother gave his life to protect. If my brother were alive, he'd definitely turn against you for what you've done to her."
