Agnes watched the scene unfold before her, heart pounding with anxiety.
Phenix was still calling out for Kearney as if he were Sean.
This meant she hadn't yet snapped back to reality, still confusing Kearney with Sean.
Yet, she had accessed Sean's trust fund.
The photo and information on that fund were clear as day; there was no way Phenix could be unaware.
Agnes was completely bewildered.
Her mind raced, trying to make sense of it all.
But now wasn’t the time to dwell on it.
Phenix was being restrained by several masked mercenaries.
She looked utterly exhausted.
It was clear they were using Phenix to coerce Kearney.
The questions remained: who were these people, and what did they want?
Agnes was on edge.
She turned to Elton beside her, "Do you have any idea what we should do?"
Elton replied, "This looks like a well-trained mercenary group, and they’ve taken control of the entire cruise ship. Just the two of us? We’re unarmed; what can we possibly do?"
Agnes was frustrated, "So we’re just supposed to stand by and watch them take Phenix away without doing anything?"
Elton sighed, "Kidnapping always comes with a motive, whether it’s money or revenge. If it’s money, that’s manageable. But if it’s personal vendetta, we’re in deep trouble."
The Ferris wheel slowly descended.
Agnes managed to crack open one of the windows.
She could hear every word spoken on the deck below.
Leading the group was a bald man in army gear, surprisingly someone of Chinese descent.
His skin was darkened by the sun, and his build was as solid as a brick wall.
Agnes felt like she was being thrown into a boiling pot of oil, unable to escape the torment.
Yet, she couldn’t come up with a plan.
All she could do was keep observing.
Over there, Kearney was slowly getting to his feet.
Agnes noticed he’d been shot at least twice.
Both bullets hit his legs.
Blood was streaming down, painting the deck a terrifying red.
Yet Kearney somehow managed to stand.
Apart from a slight furrow of his brow, his face showed no signs of pain.
He remained calm, as if those bullets hadn’t even touched him.
Phenix watched him, tears streaming down her face in large droplets.
