Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1135

In the end, the massive drug trafficking case came to a close with Berlin's incarceration. Berlin was painted as the mastermind behind the curtain, taking the fall for everything, calming the storm that had raged.

But Agnes knew.

This was just the tip of the iceberg that had been exposed.

The case was too entangled, too deep, and someone up high decided to cut it short.

It seemed like an unspoken agreement had been reached between the shadows and the light.

Yet, there were still too many unanswered questions.

The involvement of Albert's Arms was something Agnes couldn't believe ended with Patton.

Despite Jared's warnings to leave it be, Agnes couldn't shake off her doubts, not after what happened on the night of Phenix's wedding debacle.

Agnes had secretly recorded a short video.

Agnes was taken aback.

"I know you might not believe me, but it's the truth. I've spoken with my father, and he has no reason to lie to me now. His phone was either lost or stolen long before, but he never paid it much mind. Also, every transaction into the account under his name… my father was oblivious to that card's existence until the police investigation. Someone was manipulating things behind the scenes to frame him. He usually uses a set of cards for his expenses and never noticed these transactions."

Agnes retorted, "I don't buy it. That explanation is too flimsy. We can't just take Ms. Thomas's word for it. I can't believe such a significant matter would completely bypass your father."

"So, my father was deceived by someone close to him. You know how my father is, despite his age, he's only interested in the finer things in life. He leaves the business dealings to others. Buying off one of his trusted aides to get a card he didn't know about, or stealing his phone to fabricate evidence, isn't far-fetched."
