Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1084

The room fell into a brief silence before Alyssa's world shattered. "Hospital, get me to the hospital."

Chaos erupted at Whitfield Manor.

Alyssa couldn't think of anything else but to rush to Hope Hospital.

Cilian was in a panic too. It all happened too fast.

On the way to the hospital, Agnes felt like her heart was being squeezed tight, her mind a whirlwind of confusion and fear.

How was Ryder doing? Could something bad have happened to him?

Agnes couldn't even begin to imagine, regret starting to gnaw at her. Why hadn't she foreseen this?

But it was too late for regrets. The deed was done, and Agnes was blindsided by the swift cruelty of the attacker.

Who could do such a thing?

Agnes's heart ached terribly.

Soon, they arrived at the hospital.

A few police officers were stationed along the hospital corridors.

Jarvis was sitting on a bench, his head in his hands, a picture of guilt and sorrow.

After Ryder's arrest, Jarvis had been vigilant, knowing only Ryder had the whereabouts of the drug lord. But when they followed Ryder's lead, they found the drug lord already dead, a clear case of silencing a witness.

It seemed their every move was anticipated, as if an invisible eye was watching, waiting.

Jarvis had long suspected a mole within the police, possibly even among the high-ranking officials.

Then, the emergency room doors swung open, and a team of doctors and nurses emerged.

Alyssa and Cilian rushed forward, "How's my son?"

The doctor removed his mask, his expression grave, "The patient was poisoned with ricin, a potent neurotoxin. He was in deep poisoning upon arrival. After intensive treatment, his vital signs are stable for now, but he's not out of the woods. The toxin may have caused irreversible damage to his brain. Whether he wakes up or not... it's up to his willpower now."
