Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1010

At a dimly lit corner of an underground club, the air was thick with anticipation and something far less savory. The table was scattered with a rainbow powder, neatly lined up for consumption. The others around the table were already lost in their high, their excitement palpable.

Jarvis, however, remained aloof. "Lanny, I'm sorry, but I don't indulge in sweets," he declined, his tone firm yet polite.

Lanny waved him off dismissively. "You're such a bore."

Jarvis and Agnes took their seats as the conversation shifted towards business.

"Lanny, I'm here on serious business. Of course, should you facilitate this deal for me, your cut is guaranteed. How does a 9% commission sound, following the rules of our circle?" Jarvis proposed, eager to strike a deal.

Lanny, however, was unimpressed. "I've got people lining up for my services, offering me perks. What makes you think you're any different? You know I'm taking a huge risk here."

Jarvis gauged Lanny's interest. "What do you want, Lanny? Name your price."

Lanny's eyes roamed over Agnes. "I fancy your girl. Let her spend the night with me, keep me satisfied, and I'll consider your offer. Plus, I want a 20% commission."

Jarvis and Agnes exchanged a glance, an unspoken understanding passing between them. It was a risky move, but necessary under the circumstances.

Lanny might have looked rough around the edges, but he was sharp. He was wary of undercover agents, knowing they wouldn't comply with such demands.

Just then, Lanny got up and approached Agnes, his intentions clear as he reached out to touch her face. "Such a pretty thing. Just my type."

Agnes, regretting her decision to blend into this sordid scene, dodged Lanny's hand with a smile. "How about a toast to celebrate your deal with Bullet?" she suggested, hoping to distract him.

But Lanny wasn't easily sidetracked. Grabbing her wrist, he declared, "Enough with the drinks. You're coming with me now. Make me happy, and I'll give your boss what he wants. You'll be his favorite."

As he pulled Agnes towards the exit, the gravity of their situation sank in. They were playing a dangerous game, one that required every ounce of their cunning to survive.
