THE MOMENT Ki Gayoon realized how important Noh Yuno was as an E-Class Guide, he had already prepared himself to fight the entire world just to protect him.
However, Kwak Hakjae didn’t question his willingness to protect his lover.
The president of the Esper Association asked about his ability.
"It won’t be easy, but I’d die first before those bastards could touch Noh Yuno," Ki Gayoon said in a serious tone. He wasn’t being arrogant, and he wasn’t looking down on the World Rankers. It was just a fact that he would die protecting his lover. "If the World Rankers start targeting Noh Yuno, I’ll leave the country to your capable hands, Hyung-nim."
Kwak Hakjae almost choked on his saliva. "W-What did you just call me?"
Ki Gayoon just rolled his eyes. "You’re overreacting, Hyung-nim."
"Yah! You only called me that way when you were a teen! When you became an adult, you turned into a disrespectful piece of shit. Can you blame me for this reaction?"
"Well, I guess I’m finally acting my age. I started calling Haru ’Hyung-nim,’ too."
"No, you’re not acting your age— this is all thanks to Noh Yuno. He turned you into a decent member of society, Ki Gayoon."
Ki Gayoon was pissed, but he couldn’t say anything since it was true that Noh Yuno was the reason he wanted to be a decent person.
Now I’m being sappy.
Thankfully, a distraction in the form of a phone call came.
Ki Gayoon picked up the call when he saw that it was from Lee Woonhak.
"Boss, I finally figured out the symptoms of the new virus after the System helped me study the infected individuals under our care."
"The System helped you?"
"Not directly. But the System sent a huge file of data to the Madam, and the Madam handed that data to me to decipher it."
Ah, right.
That happened.
"Ask either 17 or Haru Hyung-nim to escort you here," Ki Gayoon said when he realized what the government needed to do next. "We’re going to have a nationwide announcement."
***
YUNO, as soon as he entered Ki Gayoon’s dungeon, immediately took a long bath.
Thank goodness the mansion inside the dungeon has electricity, water, and internet connection.
Plus, he didn’t have to worry about food and drinks since he could use his Inventory there.
So, after his nice bath, he put on his expensive silky pajamas.
He quickly went to bed, but not to sleep.
It’s gonna be stressful, but I need to watch the news and assess the situation.
To lessen his stress, he pulled out a box of donuts and a carton of chocolate milk from his Inventory.
He charged his phone, so he turned on the TV and watched the news there.
As expected, the ’zombie apocalypse’ was all over the news.
And, of course, that meant the Civilians were once again shaking in fear.
Tsk.
Yuno was about to turn off the TV because all the news stations were just saying the same thing.
But he stopped when all the channels suddenly played the same video.
It was a breaking news segment...
... in short, all the TV stations were hijacked by the government.
And, by government, I meant the Esper Association.
"This is Ki Gayoon, our country’s current leader."
"I’m here to personally address the current ’zombie apocalypse’ situation that’s terrorizing the country at the moment. Rest assured, everything is under control. The ’zombies’ you’ve seen on the news aren’t the man-eating monsters featured in many horror movies."
"Those ’zombies’ are actually Civilians who were forced to awaken."
"We recently discovered a type of virus that could force a Civilian to awaken. But forced awakening is dangerous. If your body can’t handle Mana, your heart will either combust or you’ll turn into a creature that resembles ’zombies.’"
To be fair, I know the government lies to prevent mass panic. But most of the time, the officials just lie to protect their asses.
"As of now, we can say that the ’zombies’ aren’t after flesh meat. However, we can’t rule out the possibility of the infected individuals spreading the virus. For now, we strongly encourage everyone to wear a face mask when going out. And, if you can, please stay at home in the meantime."
