Gorgeous Couple’s Sweet Love novel Chapter 90

"What's there to be confused about?" I asked, feigning calmness.

Laurelie picked up the coffee and took a sip. She was very confused and said, "He barely calls me and when he finally called, he said something like this. Do you think I've already got his attention?"

Laurelie was the kind of person that would think of everything in a positive way. I asked in a low voice, "Are you wondering what he thinks?"

The expression on Bob's face had never been good!

Laurelie smiled and said, "Maybe it's just my wishful thinking."

She said, "Zack called me and asked me if I was in the army or with you. He was afraid that I would leave you behind... Then... Then you know what else he said."

She was puzzled again and said, "He had never said anything before, no matter how huge a fuss I made! But now... It seems that he's learned to fight back."

Laurelie was glowing with energy, but on the other hand, Bob's face was cold. I reached out and patted Bob on the shoulder and said, "I don't know what he's thinking either. It's getting late, time to sleep. We got a job to do tomorrow."

After putting down the cup of coffee and saying goodnight, Laurelie left. After she left, I told Bob, "You are being too obvious."

Bob's face was blank. "Hm? What?"

"I can see that you like her, not to mention herself!"

Bob's face instantly turned pale. After a moment of silence, he raised his head and said fiercely, "So what? I don't mean it anyway!"

Bob was young and was still too cocky.

The next morning, we rented a car and went to a village near the river bank. Bob got out of the car, took out his wallet and there was only a bank card in it. I looked helplessly at Laurelie and paid for the ride with some amusement.

Bob resigned herself to his fate and dragged two suitcases as he reminded me, "Keep these tickets and you can get reimbursement when we head back to the station." I didn't need him to tell me that. Of course, I wouldn't pay for the whole business trip using money out of my own pocket.

I put away the tickets and heard Bob's grumbling voice. "What exactly did you guys put in the cases? Why are they so heavy?"

Laurelie squinted at him and said first, "What can a girl pack? Cosmetics, clothes, shoes, sunglasses, mostly cosmetics."

I felt a little embarrassed. I only had a few clothes and some simple cosmetics in my case.

I laid my eyes on her face. She was young and all dressed up. She always exuded the woman's laziness and delicateness, as well as the charm in her bones!

She was born to be coquettish, but not too tacky.

I suddenly remembered that when I met Benjamin a few months ago, he taught me how to use women's weapons to defeat enemies.

And in his words, a woman's best weapon was her delicacy.

Delicacy in all sapects of lives.

If I hadn't known what he meant before, I realized it as soon as I met Laurelie.

Laurelie was a living example of delicacy! Perhaps Benjamin did not want me to be outstanding at that time, but he wanted me to live a beautiful and confident life in front of Steve and Charlotte!

Benjamin despised my self-deprecation the most.

He had always told me to think as highly of myself as possible.

I chuckled and Laurelie asked, "What are you laughing at?"

I said frankly, "Knowing what you got in your suitcase, I feel like I'm not worthy to be a woman."

I wouldn't lie to Laurelie to cover up for myself.

She was sincere, and so was I.

"How come?" Laurelie said with a smile, "I've always felt that there is a kind of gentleness and unique temperament on you, which is incomparable to those vulgar women."

I didn't know that Laurelie thought so highly of me.

I smiled and said, "Your life is enviable."

"Come on, the two of you, that's enough!" Bob followed behind us, sweat dripping from his forehead. However, his gaze fell in front of us and he said, "That dude seems to be here for us."

I looked up and noticed the stubble on the man's face. There was a trace of age on it, and there was a smile on the corner of his lips.

He seemed to be familiar to me.

He took a case from Bob's hand and said with a smile, "Zack said that you would arrive early in the morning, so he asked me to pick you up."

I pursed my lips and thought for a long time. Then he suddenly reached out and said, "Officer Shears, how long has it been? Five years?"

In a daze, I reached out and held his hands. "Marvin, five years indeed."

After saying those words, I was a little surprised, but he said happily, "Zack said that you lost some of your memories. I was a little worried that you wouldn't remember me, Edith."

I remembered. He was an undervocer agent with us five years ago. He was my colleague and Zack's best man.

"How long have you been here?" I asked curiously.

"Four months, let's talk on the way there." Marvin said in front, "Zack sent me here four months ago and asked me to wait for you. I heard that one of you is his nephew and the other is a young and promising young officer called Lau... Weier!"

It seemed like Zack also told the name rule to Marvin.

After Marvin arranged for us to live in a clean farmhouse, he took his leave and said, "I have some tasks to take care of. I'll talk to you in detail later in the evening."

After Marvin left, we began to tidy up our own rooms. I had just finished tidying up the bed when I received a call from Sean.

I answered it and asked curiously, "What's up?"

Sean chuckled and asked, "Where are you?"

I ignored his question. "Why?"

I was silent, too lazy to talk to him.

The rain was extremely heavy, but my heart was extremely calm.

I turned around and was about to leave. Benjamin reached out to grab my sleeve. I looked at him indifferently and asked, "What the hell do you want?"

"You're blaming me for not telling you about your son's birthday, aren't you?" I narrowed my eyes. Benjamin said softly, "That day, I brought him to you for dinner. I wanted you to spend some time with him. I didn't tell you the reason... It was because I can't take you back to the Dunn family for the time being."

Benjamin said, "I know you want to celebrate his birthday with him, but he has to be at the Dunn family... If you go, you'll see nothing but eyes rolling at you and even more. It's not what I want, and I don't want you to be sad."

"So that's why you hid it from me?" I asked, smiling.

"You would've felt worse if I didn't," Benjamin said in a low voice, tugging at my sleeve. "I wanted to hide it from you but I was afraid that you would misunderstand me. That's why I posted that picture," he said in a low voice.

"Maybe you think it's unreasonable, but this is what I'm thinking. I'm protecting you in my own way."

There he was, making himself looing justied again.

I wondered if he knew how ridiculous he sounded.

The man who could make me put down all my guards in an instant.

God d*mn it!

Why should I believe in his explanation?

Why did I let him hurt me again and again?

I closed my eyes and asked, "Do you think that's what I would get if I went over to the Dunn family?"

"Apart from me, the whole Dunn family is... Emma, wait for another two months, and I will let the Dunn family be willing to accept you."

Other than him, everyone in the Dunn family would roll their eyes at me.

"Benjamin, I didn't say I was going to be with you,"

I turned around and left. Benjamin followed me without saying a word. When we were about to arrive at the farmhouse, I asked, "Why are you still here?"

Benjamin said faintly, "The mother of my son is here."

His eyes were very deep, and I had never seen through him.

When I hated him the most, he always said the sweetest words to me, and always did something that made me both misunderstand him and feeling touched... I felt that I was wrong about him.

But I was also reminded of how much more I'd suffered with him than the warmth he gave me.

Even if he saved me from Steve!

But did that justify what he had done to me later? The endless torment when I was with him?
